Dan Lauer, Secretary. The object of the meeting was to secure to Nebraska a portion of the immigration that is now contemplating removal from Southern States to Brazil and other points. Mr. Shambaugh thought by properly representing the agricultural resources of our State to these people and assuring them of a welcome that a large immigration from the South to Nebraska might be expected. Mr. Foglesong favored the appointment of a committee of five to draft resolutions. Mr. Minor urged a public meeting to all favoring the scheme, Mr. Lincoln stated he had 15 or 20 letters from people of the South, ready to immigrate to new country; remarks by Messrs. Brinker, Ballentine, Hicklin, Moore, Patterson and others.

848 04/17/67 3 1 Patterson, C. P. Emigration. Texas. C. P. Patterson received a telegram from the Texas emigrants for Otoe County that they had reached Kansas City, Mo. in good health, and were making all possible speed for Nebraska City.
848 06/03/67 3 1 Rockwell, Arnold Emigration. Wisconsin. To Nebraska from Dodge County, headed by Messrs. Arnold Rockwell and Smith. They arrive at Nebraska, bound for Lancaster, or Johnson, or Seward, or some other good inland county, on June 3rd having left Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on May 1st. They have been fortunate in their long journey, having no sickness and losing only one horse out of seventeen head.
