THE NEBRASKA AND MIDWEST

ANSWERS

HINDS (Mrs. Anna E. Troup, 1229 L St., Lincoln, Nebr., Apr. '28). - The inquiry regarding Elizabeth Hinds, wife of John Kirby, is answered, somewhat, by the following data, which also corrects an assertion made in the query: John Kirby, baptized Jan. 4, 1624, at Rowington, Warwickshire, England; died in April, 1677, at Middletown, Conn.; married Elizabeth (probably Hinds), probably born at Bury St. Edmonds, England; died after April, 1697, probably at Wethersfield, Conn. They had issue: Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Hannah, Eunice, Bethia, Esther, Susannah, Abigail, Joseph, and John. Their daughter, Hannah, was born Mar. 2, 1649, in Wetherfield, Conn.; she died in Oct. 1717; she married William Stone, of Guilford, Conn. (See Stiles' History of Wethersfield, Conn., vol. 2, p. 473.) As Samuel Andrews was born in 1683 and Hannah Kirby was at that time 34 years old, she could not have married his son. According to the Andrews Memorial, Samuel Andrews was a son of Thomas Andrews, and had a son, also named Thomas, who was born Mar. 3, 1720 (page 29). So the second John Kirby, apparently the youngest child of John and Elizabeth (Hinds?) Kirby, may have been the father of Hannah, wife of Thomas3 Andrews. Undoubtedly Stiles' History of Wethersfield will clear the matter up. Incidentally, Elizabeth (Hinds?) Kirby mar. 2ndly Abraham Randall, who died Aug. 21, 1690. (See Stiles' History of Ancient Windsor, vol. 2, p. 632.) - Mrs. Wm. Rogers, Studley, Kansas.
