SOME DESCENDANTS OF GEORGE SEXTON
OF WESTFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS

       37. EBENEZER7 SAXTON (Ebenezer6-5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Bristol, Vermont, September 8, 1824. He married, September 4, 1849, Mary Ann Mummery, daughter of Robert and Francis (Care) Mummery of Ross Township, Lake County, Indiana. She was born in county Kent, England, November 10, 1828, and died at Merrillville, Indiana, December 11, 1903. Ebenezer Saxton was a farmer. He enlisted in the Union Army and died at Louisville, Kentucky before he was mustered out, July 14,1865. He was buried at Louisville in the Cave Hill National Cemetery. The widow, Mary Ann, married her husband's younger brother, Noble Saxton.

  38. NOBLE7 SAXTON (Ebenezer6-5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Bristol, Vermont, July 13, 1828. In 1837 he came to Merrillville, Indiana, with his parents, where he remained until the spring of 1852. On March 22 of that year he set out for Oregon to join his oldest brother, Henry Saxton, who had already settled there. While living in Oregon Noble Saxton served in the army against the Indians, for which service he later received a pension. In the winter of 1866 he returned to Merrillville, Indiana, where he married, December 26,1869, Mary Ann (Mummery) Saxton, his brother Ebenezer's widow. She died December 11, 1903. In the spring of 1907 he went to Hammond, Indiana, to live with his step- daughter, Cynthia (Sexton) Merrill, and in June, 1908, he removed to Whitewater, Wisconsin, where he made his home with another stepdaughter, Clara (Sexton) Williams. He died at Whitewater, August 27, 1909, and was buried at Merrillville, Indiana. Noble Saxton was a farmer, a member of the Methodist Church, and a Mason. (b)

  39. RAYMOND WILLIAM7 SAXTON (John6 William5 James4-3-2 George1) Was born at Cambridge, New York, July 20, 1802, and died at Westville, New York, November 16, 1877. He married, first, Phidelia Pratt, daughter of Stephen and Drusilla (Loveland) Pratt, who was born August 14, 1806, and died March 13, 1841. He married, secondly, September 23, 1841, Mary Ann Newton, daughter of Elijah and Lavina (Pratt) Newton, who was born November 25, 1814, and died June 5, 1882.(c)

  41. HIRAM7 SAXTON (John6 William5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Westville, New York, February 9, 1809, and died, April 11, 1893, at Galway, New York, where he lived most of his life. He married Matilda Rogers, who died April, 1893. A joint funeral was held and they were buried in one grave. (c)

  42. JOHN T.7 SAXTON (John6 William5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Westville, Otsego County, New York, December 4, 1818. He married Asenath, daughter Of Thomas Bates, who was born in 1824, and died in 1886. They lived at Unionville, Ohio.(c)

He married, November 14, 1833, at Castile, Wyoming County, New York, Betsy G. Chipman, who was born May 9, 1811, in Albany County, New York, and died, August 24, 1892, at Washington, D. C.(d)

  44. JOHN7 SAXTON (Asa6 James5-4-3-2 George1) was born October 18, 1813, probably at Butternuts, Otsego County, New York. He married, about 1838, Almeda Handy, and in 1846, removed his family to Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois. (e)

  45. JEROME7 SAXTON (Daniel6 James5-4-3-2 George1) was born November 25, 1822, and died February 24, 1864, at Jamestown, New York. He married Caroline Root, who was born September 28, 1825, and died at Swampscott, Massachusetts, October 17, 1907. (f)

47. CHARLES R.7 SAXTON (Isaac6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born July 9, 1827. He married Betty Ann Wilson of Plainsville, New York, who died at Oswego Falls, New York, July 18, 1867. He removed with his children to Burdette, Kansas, where he died March 19, 1899.(g)

48. GATES7 SAXTON (Isaac6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born June 6, 1840. He married, 1864, Clarissa Jane Carroll. In 1907 she was living at Montera, Washington, with her daughter, Mrs. Harriet Abby Blair.

49. WILLIAM L.7 SAXTON (Jacob6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born December 18, 1831, probably near New Berlin, Otsego County, New York. He removed to Hardy, Humboldt County, Iowa, and in 1856 married Helen L. Allen.

50. WILLIAM HENRY7 SAXTON (Elisha6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Lowville, Lewis County, New York, October 16, 1827, and when about eight years of age he removed with his parents to La Grange, Ohio. He married, May 13, 1849, Mary Allyn of Wellington, Ohio, born June 8, 1824,

daughter of Pelatiah and Clara (Merrill) Allyn, and settled at Oberlin, Ohio, where he died June 16, 1895. His widow, Mary, died December 2, 1897. Children of William Henry7 and Mary (Allyn) Saxton:    i. Clara Ardelia, b. Nov. 10, 1853.

51. NELSON A.7 SAXTON (Elisha6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Denmark, New York, July 26, 1831, and was about four years of age when he removed with his parents to La Grange, Ohio. In 1864 he married Harriet Lucile Stearns at Olmstead Falls, Ohio. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War, enlisting from Lambertville, Michigan. He was captain of Company M, Eighth Michigan Cavalry. For twenty-five years he was a minister of the Universalist Church. He died at Marshall, Michigan, August 18, 1890.

52. ALBERT DURANT7 SAXTON (Elisha6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at La Grange, Ohio, December 12, 1837, and died at Blissfield, Michigan, January 20, 1920. In 1859 he married Helen E. Houk at La Grange, Ohio, and in 1865, he removed to Eaton Rapids, Michigan. After the death of his wife in 1895, he married, 1912, a second time.

Children of Albert Durant7 and Helen E. (Houk) Saxton:    i. Frank A., deceased; only son, Frank E., lives at Holt, Mich.
  ii. Edwin M., d. soon after marriage; no children.
 iii. Ella M., m. Charles Clark, now deceased; no children; lives at Grand Ledge, Mich.

53. JOHN SYLVESTER7 SAXTON (Elisha6 Henry5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at La Grange, Ohio, March 8, 1840, and died June 24, 1922, at Blissfield, Michigan. He married Rachel E. Howenstine, born January 27, 1850, daughter of Jacob and Nancy (Jackson) Howenstine, and lived on a farm near Whiteford, Monroe County, Michigan.
