He settled on his claim Aug. 1854. - Morton-Watkins, I, pp. 589-90. He is also listed in the Bellevue census under the name Bagly.
  (s) Rev. M. F. Shinn, b. Jan. 3, 1809, Hillsboro, 0., was a tailor by trade. Early in life he began to practice medicine and a little later began preaching for the Methodist church. In 1838 he settled in Iowa. He was twice married. - Andreas, p. 797.

  (u) Joel T. Griffin, b. May 22, 1817, Otsego Co., N. Y., son of Stephen and Rachel (Willson) Griffin, Quakers, moved to Washtenau. Co., Mich., with his parents in 1835. He returned to New York, where he married Miss Juliett Cobb Griffin. In 1852 he moved to Oakland Co., Mich., and in May 1856 to Douglas Co. - Nebraska State Historical Society, Transactions and Reports, I, pp. 104- 6.
  (v) Aaron Cahn and wife and her brother, Meyer Heilman, came to Omaha in 1856, the first Jewish group to settle there. Mr. Cahn was later a member of the territorial legislature. - Ella Fleishman Auerbach, Jewish Settlement in Nebraska pp. 10-11. -- Aaron Cahn, b. Oct 1818 Nassau, Germany, came to America in 1848. He married at Cincinnati, 0., Feb. 1, 1854, Caroline Heilman, a native of Bavaria. - Andreas, p. 760. -- Meyer Hellman, b.
