in farming, in Frontier County, Nebraska. For the past six years he has been in the wholesale and retail oil business. He is a Republican, a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, and the Odd Fellows. His favorite pastime is playing cards.

On September 22, 1892, he was married to Clara Jane Fouse at Blue Valley, Nebraska. Mrs. Flock was born at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, March 28, 1875. To them were born three children, two of whom are living, Chester, born September 30, 1893, at McCool Junction, Nebraska; Minnie, born July 10, 1898, at Maywood, Nebraska, who married Gilbert Johnson. She died April 1, 1919; and Erma, born June 27, 1910, at Maywood, Nebraska; Chester married Hattie Easton of Maywood, and has two children, a boy, Leon, and a girl, Maxine. Erma married Johnnie Baner. They have one son, Doran. Residence: Maywood.


Francis Arthur Flood

Francis A. Flood, Nebraska lecturer and writer, has been a resident of this state since 1900. He was born at Oakland, Pottawatamie County, Iowa, November 13, 1896, the son of James Francis and Jennie L. (Meeks) Flood. His father, a farmer, was born in Mills County, Iowa, August 15, 1865; his father, James Flood, was born in County Clare, Ireland, while his mother was a native of England; both of them came to the United States at the age of twenty. Jennie (Meeks) Flood, mother of Francis, was born in Michigan,. August 11, 1867, the daughter of English parents.

Mr. Flood attended the rural school in precinct A in Seward County, and in 1914 was graduated from the University Place High School. He received his A. B. degree at the University of Nebraska in 1920; was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho; and was awarded his university letter in track, high hurdles, and high jump, 1918 and 1919.

From 1914 to 1916, he served as a clerk for the Southern Pacific Railway in California; was an instructor in the high school at Steele City, Nebraska, 1922; homesteaded in Wyoming, 1920-22; was instructor at the School of Agriculture of the University of Nebraska, 1922-23; was instructor at the Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa, 1923-24; and was associate editor of The Nebraska Farmer, 1924-29. He is now a travel editor and lecturer for a syndicate of agricultural magazines, at Lincoln, Nebraska.

During the World War Mr. Flood served in the United States Navy as a seaman. He is a member of the American Legion; is affiliated with the Westminster Presbyterian Church at Lincoln; and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society. From 1928 to 1930, he was a member of the Lincoln Rotary Club. His favorite sport is tennis.

On June 27, 1925, he was united in marriage with Helen Janet Maitland, at Lincoln. Mrs. Flood was born at Detroit, Michigan, October 30, 1900; her maternal grandparents were born in Ireland, and her father, who was an inventor, was born in Scotland. They have a daughter, Barbara Joan, born June 15, 1929, and a boy, Francis, Jr., born October 2, 1931. Residence: Lincoln.


Harry Davis Flory

Harry D. Flory was born at Pawnee City, Nebraska, December 26, 1884, the son of George Saylor and Ann (Davis) Flory. His father, whose French Huguenot ancestors settled at New Rochelle, New York, about the middle of the 17th century, was born at Staunton, Virginia, June 7, 1854. He is a retired druggist.

His mother, whose parents came from Aberdare, Wales, to Wisconsin in 1856, was born at Spring Green, Sauk County, Wisconsin, September 21, 1860, and died at Pawnee City, March 19, 1928. She was an active worker in the Woman's Club and Sunday School.

Mr. Flory is a graduate of the Pawnee City High School, where he played baseball and football. On May 39, 1896, he began printing with the Pawnee Press, having carried papers on the Daily Press for six months prior to that date. Editor and publisher of the Pawnee Republican, he has been with that paper continuously for 24 years.

He married Florence Elizabeth Nye, at Lincoln, Nebraska, October 8, 1914. Mrs. Flory, who was born at Tate, Pawnee County, Nebraska, June 26, 1885, was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1911. Her father was a member of the well known Nye and Fairbanks families. Her mother was of Scotch-Irish descent. They have two sons; Harry Davis, Junior, born March 27, 1917; and William Nelson, born June 28, 1927.

Mr. Flory took part in liberty loan and Red Cross drives in the late war, he is a member of the Nebraska Press Association, of which he has been director for the past ten years; the National Editorial Association; the Pawnee Public Service Club, acting as secretary for five years; and the State Historical Society. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pawnee City. He is a Mason. His hobby is reading, and golf and tennis are his favorite sports. His club is the Fairview Golf Club. Residence: Pawnee City.


Orville Henry Flory

Dr. Orville Henry Flory has been a resident of Nebraska since 1883, residing at Albion, Nebraska. He was born at South Bend, Indiana, August 27, 1869, the son of William and Mary (Sturgis) Flory. His father, who was also a physician, was born in Cass County, Indiana, April 11, 1843, and died at St. Edward, Nebraska, December 1, 1898; his French Huguenot ancestors came to this country before the Revolution. His mother, whose ancestry was English, Irish, and Scotch, was born in Bond County, Illinois, January 16, 1850, and died at St. Edward, January 12, 1905.

Dr. Flory attended school in Indiana until 1883 when he moved to Nebraska with his parents. He received the M. D. degree at Kansas City Medical College in 1891, and for the next twelve years was engaged in the practice of medicine at St. Edward. From 1903 to 1916 he served as president of the First National Bank at St. Edward, and then returned to his farm. He is now retired. A Democrat, he served as a member of the board of education for 18 years, and during the World War was a member of the Food Commission Board, He is a Mason.

He was married to Anna Johnson Davison at St. Edward, June 2, 1892. Mrs. Flory, whose ancestry is Soctch-Irish and English, was born at Leyden, Illinois, June 2, 1869. They have two children: Robert D., born June 26, 1893, who is a lawyer and state commander of the American Legion; and Donald W., born July 15, 1898, who is a farmer and poultryman. Residence: St. Edward.


Max William Flothow

Max William Flothow, physician, and surgeon, was born at Omaha, Nebraska, April 6, 1890, son of Max and Marie (Harms) Flothow.

The father was born in Hamburg, Germany, on September 22, 1864, and died at Omaha, February 29, 1928. He came to the United States in 1886. His wife, Marie, was born in Ludwisburg, Germany, September 14, 1868.

Dr. Flothow received his medical degree from Creighton University in 1913, where he was a member of Phi Rho Sigma.

He was married on March 25, 1914, to Rena Redman at Salt Lake City.

Dr. Flothow is a Republican, and since 1921 has been engaged in the practice of surgery and gynecology. He held the rank of lieutenant junior grade in the United States Navy during the World War, He is a

Albert Claus Floto

Albert C. Floto, was born in Griswold, Iowa, October 19, 1899. His education consisted of the elementary eight grades from which he was graduated in 1914; he then entered Griswold high school, completing the work in 1918. Later he attended Iowa State College and then the University of Iowa where he received his degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in 1923. Mr. Floto ranked with the upper one-fourth of his class. He was a member of the Triangle and was eligible to Tau Beta Pi.

Charles Floto, father of Albert, was born near Mt. Morris, Illinois. His principle occupation in life was that of a cattle speculator. He died near Griswold, Iowa, which was the birthplace of his wife Margaret. Both of Mr. Floto's parents were of German descent.

On June 30, 1922, Albert C. Floto was united in marriage to Leona Marie Baughman, at Griswold. She was born at Griswold, on May 20, 1900. They have one daughter, Barbara Joanna, born May 29, 1923.

Mr. Floto was a private in the United States Army, Quarter Master's Corps during the World War. He was made a major in the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Iowa. He is a member of the American Legion, the American Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the Red Cross, the Seward Welfare Society, the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Elks, the Young Men's Christian Association and the Nebraskana Society. His social club is the Oak Ridge Golf Club.

Mr. Floto is intensely interested in golf and baseball, while his hobbies are fishing and reading.

His present position is that of district manager for the Seward district of the Iowa-Nebraska Light and Power Company. He started as a lineman with the same company in 1918, and has always been in their employ with the exception of four years while in school. Residence: Seward. (Photograph in Album).


Walter Flynn

Walter Flynn, dentist, was born at David City, Nebraska, August 22, 1872, and is the son of Frank and Sarah (Martin) Flynn. Educated in the public school of David City, he attended Northwestern University, at Chicago, Illinois, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1899. He has practiced dentistry in Ulysses, for thirty-three years.

His marriage to Mary Alice Walter, daughter of Jacob Leonard Walter of Rising City, took place November 5, 1900. To them were born two children, Walter Francis, August 7, 1901, who graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1924. He is married to Evelyn Keith, of Hebron; and Marial, born November 9, 1903, a graduate of the university in 1926. Evelyn has two sons, Francis Keith, born July 22, 1929, and Walter M., born July 7, 1931.

Mr. Flynn's political affiliation is with the Democratic party. He is a member of the Congregational Church, the Masons, and the Nebraskana Society, and has served on the board of education for several years. His home is at Ulysses.


Edward Francis Fogarty

Edward F. Fogarty, lawyer, was born at Omaha, January 5, 1898, son of Frank and Elizabeth (Costello) Fogarty. His father was born at Joliet, Illinois, February 14, 1861, and his mother was born at Ballaghaderien, County Mayo, Ireland, May 12, 1869. They are both living.

Edward Fogarty was educated in the parochial and high schools of Omaha, and attended Creighton University, where he received his A. B. in 1919, and his LL. B. in 1924. Since his admission to the bar in that year he has been active in the practice of law in Omaha. He is a Republican. During the World War he served as a private in the U. S. Army. A Catholic, he attends Sacred Heart Church and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is a member of the Omaha-Douglas County Bar Association. Residence: Omaha.


Emil Folda

Emil Folda, one of Nebraska's most prominent bankers, was born at Manitowac, Wisconsin, May 16, 1866, the son of John and Josephine (Sinkula) Folda. His father, who was born in the village of Holofousy, Bohemia, August 26, 1836, and died on a farm in Colfax County, Nebraska, December 30, 1895, was a farmer for many years 12 miles north of Schuyler, where he settled in 1869; he was an intimate friend of Jay Sterling Morton, and was active in Democratic politics; served with the army in Europe, and moved to America with his parents in 1860, settling in Wisconsin. His mother was born at Prodeslady, Bohemia, January 6, 1845, came to this country with her parents, and died on a farm in Colfax County, February 4, 1879.

Mr. Folda attended rural schools in Colfax County where he lived on a farm with his parents. His father's farm was located on the land where a Catholic Church now stands, near which a school building has been erected. In 1887, he became a clerk at Schuyler, Nebraska, in a general merchandise store owned by his uncle, Frank Folda; the latter was a candidate for state treasurer in 1879, on the Democratic ticket, and in 1888, was candidate for lieutenant governor with John A. McShane.

Mr. Folda entered the banking business in 1889, at Linwood; moved to David City; was assistant cashier of the First National Bank there, and in 1893 returned to Linwood, and took charge of the Linwood bank as cashier. In 1911 he moved to Clarkson, where he is now president of the bank. At one time he was president of four banks; he is now president of the Linwood Farmers' and Merchants Bank; is vice president of the Pilger State Bank; is stockholder in more than a dozen banks; and is a director in the Clarkson State Bank, the Farmers & Merchants Bank, and the Pilger State Bank.

Mr. Folda is a Democrat, and has always been active in politics in Nebraska; has held some minor offices; and has attended various state conventions. He has not been able to devote a great deal of time to campaigns, and has not accepted nominations for important offices.

His son served as corporal of Company M, 355th Infantry, 89th Division, was in the battle of St. Mihiel on September 12, 1918, and was killed near Romagne, 1918. Mr. Folda was chairman of the Red Cross; was chairman of the Council of Defense; was chairman of the four minute men; and was a member of nearly all war time committees. The local post office building was donated to the government at Clarkson for war activities.

Several years ago, Mr. Folda was president of the Commercial Club of Clarkson; was a member of the Nebraska Bank Guarantee Fund Commission, 1923-26; was a member of the village board for several years; and served as chairman of the school board at Linwood, for some time. He holds membership in these historical organizations: Nebraska State Historical Society; Nebraska Territorial Pioneer Association; Czech Nebraska Historical Association; and the Nebraskana Society.

His fraternal affiliation includes membership in: Modern Woodmen of America; Woodmen of the World; Royal Neighbors of America; Z. C. B. J., of which he was supreme treasurer for 13 years; Knights of Pythias; and C. S. D. P. J.

Mr. Folda was married to Emily Peschek at David City, Nebraska; she was born at Schuyler, October 13, 1875, and died April 20, 1904. Two children were born to this marriage: Albin, born December 17, 1894, who was

killed in France, October 21, 1918; and Laura, born February 15, 1898, who married Joseph A. Kucera, and now has two children: Emil Joseph, aged 6, and John Folda Kuvera (sic), aged 4.

On September 13, 1905, he was united in marriage with Tony Sadilek at Wilber, Saline County, Nebraska. Mrs. Folda was an assistant in the District Court of Wilber, at the age of 16; later worked for Attorney Foss, of Crete, Roscoe Pound, and Supreme Judge Letton who was prominent in Republican political circles. One daughter was born to them: Olga, born November 5, 1906, who married Professor Orin Stepanek of the University of Nebraska.

Albin Folda was assistant cashier of the Clarkson State Bank until he entered the army in the World War. Residence: Clarkson.


Eugene Arthur Follmer

A farmer and stockraiser at Oak, Nebraska, Eugene Arthur Follmer was born at Nelson, November 24, 1880. The son of George Dallas and Eva Minnie (Smith) Follmer, his father was a native of Montour County, Pennsylvania, born July 17, 1844. An early settler in Nuckolls County, he was in the real estate business, was appointed first county treasurer, holding office seven years, and was elected land commissioner of Nebraska, serving two terms 1900-02. His death occurred at Oak, May 29, 1914. George D. Follmer traced his ancestry to his great grandfather, who settled in Pennsylvania, coming from Germany in 1723. Eva Minnie Smith was born in Jackson County, Michigan, August 5, 1855; her family were early pioneers in Iowa.

Eugene Arthur Follmer was educated first in Oak public schools, was graduated from Lincoln (Nebraska) High School and attended the University of Nebraska. A letterman in football at the university, he was also a member of Alpha Tan Omega. Since leaving school he has been engaged in stockraising at Oak. He is unmarried. His political affiliation is with the Republican party, and he is a Mason and Shriner. Residence: Oak.


Eva Minnie Smith Follmer

Eva Minnie Smith Follmer, daughter of Samuel Masterson and Mariah (Mills) Smith, was born in Jackson County, Michigan, August 5, 1855. Her father, born at Canandaigna, New York, July 21, 1825, was a pioneer farmer, merchant and manufacturer at Grant, Iowa, and a soldier in the Mexican War. His death occurred at San Diego, California, October 10, 1914. Mariah Mills, his wife, was born at Ridegway (sic), New York, October 14, 1831, and died at San Diego, November 21, 1915. She was Scotch, descended from the Bruce family.

Educated in public and select schools, Mrs. Follmer completed a college course in English through Chautauqua, and after her children became college students continued her studies with them at the University of Nebraska.

She was married to George Dallas Follmer at Grant, Iowa, January 29, 1874, and at the present time has fifty descendants. Mr. Follmer, who died at Oak, Nebraska, May 29, 1914, was a prominent farmer, stockraiser, real estate dealer and politician in Nebraska for many years. He was born in Montour County, Pennsylvania, July 17, 1844. After his death Mrs. Follmer took over the operation of the farms and other business interests in which he had been active.

Their children are as follows: Clarence S., born January 9, 1875, married Grace Ewing; Harry R., born May 7, 1878, married Mary S. Crawford; Eugene A., born November 24, 1880; Ralph W., born July 11, 1884, married Marie Yunker; Katherine, born June 22, 1887; Pansy M., born June 18, 1890, married J. B. Blue; Florence Fern, born April 4, 1897, married Ray J. Lowrey.

During her fifty-seven years' residence in Nebraska Mrs. Follmer has been active in the development of her community. She is a member of the University Extension Club, the Better Homes and Gardens, the Eastern Star, the P. E. O. Sisterhood, and was the organizer of the first Parent-Teachers' Association in her county. During her long membership in the Christian Church she has taken an interested part in Sunday School and church work, and has for some time been a member of the Kings Daughters. The first court ever held in Nelson was in the house that afterwards became the Follmer home, which was also the first house in Nelson.

Mrs. Follmer is a Republican and during the World War was active in Red Cross Work and a purchaser of bonds. Her hobby is her Sunday School work. Recently she was elected to life membership in the Nebraskana Society in recognition of her achievements in the advancement of her community. Residence: Oak.


Anna Miller Folsom

Anna Miller Folsom, a resident of Nebraska for over 40 years, was born at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, November 21, 1865. Her father, Ezekiel Hoag Miller, who was a dentist, was born at New York City, September 11, 1837, and died at Nyack, Rockland County, New York, April 24, 1910; his ancestors came from England. Her mother, Phebe Caroline (Underhill) Folsom was born, of English ancestry, at New York, November 24, 1841, and died at Nyack, April 20, 1891.

Mrs. Folsom received her education under a private tutor until she was ready for high school, when she attended Friends Seminary, at Rutherford Place, New York. She has always been active in welfare work at Lincoln, Nebraska, and holds membership there in the Young Women's Christian Association; and the Presbyterian Church. She is a member of the Country Club of Lincoln, and the Nebraskana Society. Her hobby is reading.

Her marriage was solemnized at Nyack, October 21, 1891. She has two children: Willard Miller, born February 27, 1894; and Phebe, born May 19, 1895. Her political affiliation is with the Republican party. Residence: Lincoln.


Ruth Whitmore Folsom

Ruth Whitmore Folsom was born at Valley, Nebraska, December 8, 1895, the daughter of William Gunn and Ida Jane (Knowlton) Whitmore. Her father, who was born at Sunderland, Massachusetts, June 23, 1849, served one term in the Massachusetts legislature before coming to Nebraska in 1878. He was prominent in political and civic affairs in Nebraska for many years, serving as a member of the Nebraska legislature, 1885-87, 1887-89. He was regent of the Nebraska University for 13 years, acting as president of the board of regents part of that time. He is a direct descendent of Joseph Whitmore who came to America in 1620, from England, where the family line is traced back to English nobility. Several of his ancestors were officers in the Revolution.

Her mother was born at Dew Plain, Michigan, June 14, 1858. She has held various state offices in the Federated Woman's Club and the Home Economics Association. Her ancestry is traced directly back to 1066, when the first Knowlton was knighted by William the Conqueror. Several of her ancestors were active in the Revolution.

Mrs. Folsom attended the Valley public school and was graduated from the Valley High School in 1913. In 1917, she was awarded the A. B. degree at the University of Nebraska, where she was a member of the Mystic Fish, freshman honorary society, and Valkyrie, senior honorary society. She was secretary of the sophomore class at the University of Nebraska, and was treasurer and president of Alpha Chi Omega.

inent in social and civic affairs there. She has been secretary of the Lincoln Junior League; is a member of the Parent-Teachers' Association; and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society. During the World War Mrs. Folsom took part in Red Cross Work, and is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her social clubs include: Lincoln University Club and Lincoln Country Club.

On June 15, 1918, her marriage to Willard Miller Folsom was solemnized at Valley. Mr. Folsom, who is secretary of the Nebraska Central Building & Loan Association, was born at Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, February 27, 1894. His ancestors settled in America in colonial times and members of the Folsom family served in the Revolution. Their children are: Willard Whitmore, born August 19, 1920; Lowe Ricketts, born March 20, 1922; and Burton Whitmore, born March 21, 1925. Residence: Lincoln.


Willard Miller Folsom

Willard Miller Folsom, son of Morris Willard and Anna (Miller) Folsom, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, February 27, 1894. His father, who was a banker and the organizer of the Nebraska Central Building and Loan Association, was born at the American Legation in Canton, China, June 30, 1866. His ancestors were English settlers in America prior to the Revolution. His death occurred at Lincoln, March 21, 1923. Anna Miller, his wife, was born at Brooklyn, New York, November 21, 1865. She is of English descent.

Willard Folsom was graduated from Prescott grade school in 1908, and from Lincoln High School in 1912. Entering the University of Nebraska, he was awarded his A. B., in 1916, and his LL. B., in 1919. His fraternities are Phi Delta Phi and Beta Theta Pi. He earned a letter in golf and was a member of the Kosmet Club.

On June 15, 1918, he was married to Ruth Irene Whitmore at her birthplace, Valley, Nebraska. Mrs. Folsom, who was born December 8, 1895, is of English descent; several ancestors served in the Revolution. They have three children, Willard Whitmore, born August 19, 1920; Lowe Ricketts, born March 20, 1922, and Burton Whitmore, born March 21, 1925.

For several years Mr. Folsom was a director of the Nebraska State Bank of Lincoln, and later assistant secretary and then secretary of the Nebraska Central Building and Loan Association. From May 12, 1917, to January 19, 1919, he served with the, rank of 2nd lieutenant in the 338th Field Artillery. He is a member of the Red Cross, the American Legion, the Chamber of Commerce, the Parent-Teachers' Association, and the Young Men's Christian Association of which last he is a director. A Mason, he belongs to the Scottish Rite and Shrine Bodies. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society. The following are his social clubs: Lincoln Country Club, Lincoln University Club, and the Shrine Country Club. His sport is golf. Residence: Lincoln.


Alfred Fonda

Alfred Fonda, a prominent farmer in Custer County, Nebraska, was born at Cohoes, New York, October 20, 1851, the son of Henry and Alida M. (Link) Fonda. His father, a farmer and a soldier in the Civil War, was born in New York in 1827 and died in Albany County, New York, in 1889; his ancestors, who came to this country from Holland, were among the first settlers on the Mohawk River. His mother, whose ancestry is Dutch, was born in New York, in 1833, and died at Albany County, New York, in 1916.

Mr. Fonda served as county supervisor at Oconto, Nebraska, from 1902 to 1906. He is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, is affiliated with the Republican party, and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society. He has-been a resident of this state for the past 44 years.

On September 7, 1884, he was married to Helena Jean Turnbull at Gloster, New Jersey. Mrs. Fonda, whose ancestry is Scotch, was born in Cataraugus County, New York, March 29, 1858. They have four children: Elvira Alida, born August 28, 1885; Indah Pearl, December 7, 1889; and twin sons, Roy and Troy, born August 19, 1892. Troy has been employed by the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad for the past 10 years, and Roy owns a garage in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both sons served in the late war. Residence: Oconto.


Michael Joseph Ford

By profession a physician, Dr. Michael Joseph Ford, has taken for his avocation work among boys. Dr. Ford was born at Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, May 10, 1872, and came to America as an infant. His father, Michael Joseph Ford was a native of County Sligo, Ireland, a shoemaker by trade, who came to Omaha in 1882 from Maryland. He died at Omaha, November 5, 1905. His wife, Bridget (Rowan) Ford was born in County Mayo, Ireland. She died at Omaha in 1912.

Upon his graduation from Omaha High School, Dr. Ford entered Creighton University, where he received his M. D. and was valedictorian of his class, in 1901. He took post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins University; at Bellevue Hospital (New York and at Harvard), and had private work in surgery with Dr. Ferguson of Chicago. He is a member of Phi Rho Sigma.

He married Ida Bertha Biurvall at Omaha, August 11, 1897. Mrs. Ford was born in Chicago, January 1, 1873, and is of Norwegian and Swedish descent. There are two children. Barton H., born November 5, 1901, who is married to Teresa Christman. He is district manager for the John Hancock Life Insurance Company at Sioux City, Iowa. Edwin J., born February 14, 1903, is representative for Charles Ward Company, electrical supplies, of Kansas City.

A Republican, Dr. Ford is a national speaker for his party. He is the author of many articles on medicine and surgery. He was formerly the editor and owner of the Switchmen's Journal of North America and Creighton Medical Bulletin. He is a director of the Physicians Casualty Association. In 1916 he erected the Ford Hospital, which he has since operated. A Catholic, he is a member of St. Cecilia's Cathedral. He is a member of the Douglas County Medical Association, the Nebraska State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Missouri Valley Medical Association and the Elkhorn Medical Association. He is a life member of the Switchmen's Union and of the Old Settlers of Nebraska. He is a member of the Triangle Club, Boys Work Club, Elks Club, Woodmen of the World and physician to the Independent Order of Foresters. His club is the Omaha Athletic, and his sports are swimming and boxing. Residence: Omaha. (Photograph on Page 417).


Ralph Waldo Ford

Ralph W. Ford was born near Bertrand, in Gosper County, Nebraska, April 24, 1899, the son of Roy and Virginia Gilpen (Bowen) Ford. His father, who was a stockman and farmer, was born in Illinois, January 19, 1873. His mother was born in New Jersey, August 10, 1875.

Mr. Ford attended the rural schools of Gosper County, and in 1917 was graduated from the Bertrand High School. He received the LL. B. degree at the University of Nebraska, June 5, 1922, and was elected to Pi Kaption and the Lansaster (sic) County Bar Association, is a Mason, and a member of the Young Men's Christian Association. Residence: Lincoln.

On August 21, 1923, he married Oakle Morey Cochran at Holdrege, Nebraska. Mrs. Ford was born at Benedict, Nebraska, November 9, 1899. Their children are: Jack, born August 10, 1925; and Richard, born February 24, 1929.
