On November 4, 1897, he was married to Vida Bee Brockway at Crawford. She was born in Wisconsin, December 27, 1878, and her family have been in America for four generations. Mrs. McMillan in a member of the Eastern Star and the Woman's Club. She is the daughter of Herman and Ellen (Blackburn) Brockway. There are four children, Ellen, born August 4, 1898, who is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, and at present is department supervisor in Macey's Department Store in New York City; Misey, born March 13, 1900; Roy, born November 1, 1903; and Vida, born May 31, 1906.

Mr. McMillan is affiliated with the Congregational Church, is a member and, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Red Cross and the Masons. He is serving as treasurer of the local school board at the present time, and is a member of the Young Men's Christian Association. Residence: Chadron.


Eleanor Tynan McMullen

Of pioneer parentage, Eleanor T. McMullen was born at Peru, Nemaha County, Nebraska, June 30, 1870, Her father, Andrew Tynan, who was born at Kilkenney, Ireland, March 8, 1833, and died at Stella, Richardson County, Nebraska, June 15, 1912, was a pioneer homesteader and freighter. He saw and engaged in many interesting events and liked to tell stories of early Nebraska history.

Her mother, Ellen Jane Richardson, was born at Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania, April 9, 1846. She was a student at the Peru College, before it was a normal school, and has been a teacher, homemaker and clubwoman. She resides in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mrs. McMullen was educated in country schools and in the convent at Nebraska City, Nebraska. She studied teacher's training at Peru State Teachers' College for two years, and later was a student at the preparatory school of the University of Nebraska for two years. She has taught a country school; taught city grade work and high school classes, staying in the teaching profession for nine years; and for 35 years has been engaged in club work of various kinds.

She was united in marriage with Alexander Rankin McMullen at Stella, June 14, 1893. Mr. McMullen, who was born at Penn Run, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, December 6, 1862, is a farmer. Four children were born to them, three of whom are living: Mildred, born May 3, 1896, who died June 9, 1904; Richard, born December 29, 1903, a graduate of Iowa State College, who married Jessamine Hinds; Joseph, born August 24, 1906, who attended the Kansas Agricultural College at Manhattan, for two years; and Philip, born August 24, 1906, who is a graduate of the Kansas Agricultural College. All the children live on farms today.

Mrs. McMullen is a member of the Woman's Club and the Nebraskana Society. She is a member of the Eastern Star, and is affiliated with the community church of Stella, where she has been president of the church society and a member of the church council. She is a Republican. Writing letters, motoring, and reading are her hobbies. Residence: Stella.


Frederick Walter McNally

Born at Schuyler, Nebraska, June 1, 1887, Frederick Walter McNally is the son of William M. and Susannah Jane (Harris) McNally. His father, a farmer and a veteran of the Civil War, was born in County Langford, Ireland, July 12, 1847, and died at Schuyler, December 13, 1904; he came to this country on the ship Old Ironsides as a small boy. His mother, who was born at LaFayette, Indiana, January 6, 1847, and died at O'Neill, Nebraska, February 6, 1931, was the daughter of Benjamin Harris, a soldier in the Civil War.

Mr. McNally was graduated from Fremont Normal School in 1908, and for several years was engaged in farming in Holt County, Nebraska. He is owner and manager of the O'Neill Gas & Oil Company now. A Democrat, he served as precinct assessor of Colfax County and was township treasurer from 1919 to 1922. He is vice president of the Lions Club at O'Neill and is affiliated with the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, acting as warden of the Knights of Columbus. His favorite sport is baseball.

On January 24, 1911, he was married to Emma Belle Webster at Schuyler, Nebraska. Mrs. McNally was born at Platte Center, Nebraska, February 6, 1885, the daughter of James and Margaret Ellen Webster. Their children are: James, born August 24, 1912; Doris, born October 24, 1913; Bernard, born June 26, 1919; and Betty, born May 4, 1923. James was graduated from St. Mary's College in 1931 where he was prominent in athletic events, and is now bookkeeper for the O'Neill Gas & Oil Company. Residence: O'Neill. (Photograph on Page 806).


Charles John McNamara

Charles John McNumara, civil engineer, was born at North Platte, Nebraska, August 27, 1880. He is the son of Michael and Mary (Keliher) McNamara, both natives of Kerry County, Ireland. The father was born November 15, 1847, and died at Peoria, Illinois, October 27, 1902. The mother was born April 15, 1849, and is still living at Peoria, Illinois.

Upon his graduation from elementary school at North Platte, Mr. McNamara entered North Platte High School, from which he was graduated in 1897. In February, 1906, he received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska. There he was a member of Sigma Tan, Kappa Sigma, and Acacia.

From 1900 until 1912 he was civil engineer with the Union Pacific Railroad. Since May, 1912, he has been engaged in construction work, and the practice of civil engineering at North Platte.

On October 14, 1908, he was married to Rita Sally Clark at Omaha. She was born at Dunlap, Iowa, May 9, 1885. They have one son, Charles, born July 11, 1909, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska, in June, 1931, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is a member of Sigma Xi, and also Delta Sigma Lambda.

Mr. McNamara is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Chamber of Commerce, the Masons and Odd Fellow, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Nebraskana Society. He is a Republican. Residence: North Platte.


John G. McNamara

John G. McNamara was born at Wisner, Nebraska, March 1, 1872, the son of James and Margaret (Carpenter) McNamara, and has lived in this state all his life. His father, who is a farmer and stockman, was born at Mayo, Ireland, October 30, 1843, and came to America in 1861. His mother was born at Carlow, Ireland, August 7, 1852, and died at Wisner, April 1, 1909. She came to this country in 1868.

Rev. McNamara was graduated from Quincy College in 1892 and in 1897 completed a philosophical and theological course at Mount St. Mary's Seminary at Cincinnati, Ohio, having been admitted to this institution after submitting testimonials that he had satisfactorily completed a classical course in college. Since the above mentioned schools did not award degrees he was given a certificate to show he had received the education necessary for an A. M. and Ph. D. degree.

He was ordained to the ministry by the Right Rev. Richard Scannell at Omaha, Nebraska, March 4, 1897. He has been pastor of the Bloomfield parish for the past 31 years and is dean of the Bloomfield St. Andrews Church; and rector of that institution. Residence: Bloomfield.

James A. McPherrin

James A. McPherrin was born at Knoxville, Illinois, December 19, 1858. George McPherrin, his father, who was a farmer, was born in Champagne County, Ohio, December 12, 1826, and died at Clarinda, Iowa, February 1. 1905. His mother, Eliza (Cherry) McPherrin was born in Rock Island County, Illinois, April 27, 1835, and died at Clarinda, November 12, 1914.

A resident of Nebraska for 38 years, Mr. McPherrin attended the country schools after which he was in the poultry, butter and egg exchange business for five years. For twenty years he engaged in the implement and coal retail business. For several years his chief activity has been farm work and flock feeding. Mr. McPherrin is a Republican and a member of the Masons and Odd Fellows.

He was married at Clarinda, June 16, 1892, to Myrtle Ray, who was born at Clarinda, February 5, 1868, and died at Tecumseh, Johnson County, Nebraska, August 7, 1892. Residence: Tecumseh.


Ralph Vern McPherson

For the past 53 years Ralph V. McPherson has lived in Nebraska and has taken part in the civic and welfare work of his community. He was born at Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, October 28, 1873, the son of John Hoyt and Hannah Jane (Hancock) McPherson. His father, who was a lumberman and farmer, was born at Clearfield, June 26, 1847, and died at Craig, Burt County, Nebraska, July 18, 1930; he was of Scotch descent. His mother, who was a teacher for a time before her marriage, was born at Clearfield, October 13, 1847, and died at Craig, September 18, 1911; her ancestry was ScotchIrish.

Mr. McPherson received his education in the public schools of Nebraska. He engaged in farming in Burt County for many years; was postmaster at Craig from 1913 to 1922; has been president of the Craig Telephone Company for six years; and is one of the seven directors of the Farmers Union Corporation at Craig.

During the late war Mr. McPherson was active in loan drives. He was at one time president of the Commercial Club; has been a member of the Masons since 1899; and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society. Politically, he is a Democrat. He is affiliated with the Methodist Church, and is a member of the Red Cross.

His marriage to Flora Luella Loomis was solemnized in Burt County, October 1, 1902. Mrs. McPherson was born in Burt County, October 16, 1875, and is a descendant of Joseph Loomis who came from England to America in 1639. Residence: Craig. (Photograph in Album).


John McPhillips

Born at Darlington, Wisconsin, April 20, 1864, John McPhillips is the son of Thomas and Catherine (Lynch) McPhillips. His father, who is a farmer, was born in Monahan County, Ireland, and died in Platte County, Nebraska, October 8, 1888. His mother was born in County Monahan and died in Platte County in 1890.

Mr. McPhiilips has been a resident of Nebraska for the past 61 years, and is moderator of the school board at Lindsay. He is affiliated with St. John's Catholic Church and has been a member of the township for 20 years and the school board for 33 years. He has been successful as a farmer in Platte County.

His marriage to Dina Donahy occurred at Omaha, February 4, 1902. Mrs. McPhillips, whose parents were farmers, was born in County Cook (sic), Ireland, January 29, 1873. Six children were born to them: Thomas, June 29, 1903, who died February 13, 1904; Margaret, January 16, 1904, who died March 31, 1907; Elizabeth, October 12, 1905; Charles, May 11, 1908; Cecelia, May 8, 1910; Theresa, February 2, 1912. Residence: Lindsay.


James McQuillen

James McQuillen, one of Dixon County's most progressive farmers, was born at Ponca, February 26, 1876. The son of an Irish immigrant to America, Peter McQuillen, is a true lover of the soil. Peter McQuillen, who was born in Cerreck Macrosse, Monahan County, Ireland April 12, 1838, came to the United States in 1860, settling in Nebraska. Peter McQuillen married Catherine Matron, who was also born in Cerreck Macrosse, on June 12, 1840. He died at Ponca, on August 10, 1883, and she on May 24, 1910.

Educated in rural schools, James McQuillen entered farming as a boy, and during his fifty-five years' residence has met with much success in his chosen field. He has always taken an active part in Republican politics in his locality, and served as director of the Martinsburg School Board for twelve years. He is a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, and the Nebraskana Society.

On July 23, 1912, he was married to Mary O'Connor, at Ponca. A native of that city, Mrs. MeQuillen was born March 26, 1878, of Irish parentage. To them were born two children: Mary, born May 10, 1913, and James, born April 8, 1915. Residence: Ponca.


Duncan Armour McQuiston

Duncan A. McQuiston was born in Calhoun County, Iowa, October 3, 1883, the son of Donald and Ann (Armour) McQniston. His father, a farmer, was born in Argyleshire, Scotland, and in his boyhood came to America, where he acquired a thousand acre tract of land; he died at Pender, Nebraska, in November, 1917. His mother was born at Argyleshire, March 29, 1879, and died at Bloomfield, Nebraska, January 22, 1930.

Mr. McQuiston has been a farmer in Thurston County for many years, and is now president of the Farmers Cooperative Grain Association at Walthill. He is serving as vice president of the Thurston County Co-operative Service Company, is secretary-treasurer of the Thurston County Farm Bureau, and is treasurer of the local school board. He is the author of Christening O' the Beirnie.

His marriage to Mary Ann Duncan was solemnized at Bloomfield, April 7, 1909. Mrs. McQuiston was born at Campbelltown, Argyleshire, Scotland, September 9, 1887. Their children are: Kathryn Ann, born August 14, 1921; and Donald Duncan, born February 15, 1925.

Mr. McQuiston is a member of the Red Cross, Masons, the Captain of Waithill Home Guard, and the Nebraskana Society. He is interested in baseball, while his hobbies are: impersonation; writing poetry; and patenting. He is independent, politically. Residence: Walthill.


William McQuiston

William MeQuiston was born at Stillman, Illinois, June 8, 1875, the son of Donald and Ann (Armour) McQuiston. His father, a farmer, who was born at Campletown, Scotland, April 7, 1848, and died at Pender, was of Scotch descent. His mother, whose Scotch ancestors were successful farmers, was born at Campeltown, April 29, 1847, and died at Bloomfield, Nebraska, January 22, 1929. She was a talented musician.

Mr. McQuiston has been a farmer in Thurston County for over thirty years. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society, is affiliated with the Pendet Presbyterian Church. and is an independent. His hobby is reading.

He was married to Margaret McCarkindale at Odelbolt, Iowa, February 16, 1904; she was born at Odebolt, June 7, 1882, of Scotch descent. To this marriage nine children were born: Mary Lucille, born February 2, 1905; Edward Wallace, born January 5, 1907; Margaret Ann, born October 1, 1908, who married Sigfried Jacob North; Kathryn Mae, born May 13, 1910; Lloyd Donald, born December 8, 1912; William Gladstone, born March 2, 1914; Helen Marr, born May 5, 1915; Jean Francis, born

Hugh Gamble McVicker

Hugh Gamble McVicker, night editor of the State Journal at Lincoln, has lived in Nebraska since 1887. He was born on a farm in Carroll County, Ohio, April 27, 1864, the son of Robert and Margaret (McKee) McVicker. His father, who was born in County Antrim, Ireland, in 1820 and died at Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska, September, 1893, was a commission merchant, farmer, real estate man, and insurance agent; he was a Union soldier in the Civil War; his Scotch Irish ancestors were engaged in the linen trade.

His mother was born on a farm in County Down, Ireland, December, 1825, and died at Peru, Nemaha County, Nebraska, March 1875. Her ancestry was Scotch, Irish, and English; two of her brothers were United Presbyterian missionaries in India for many years.

Mr. McVicker received his elementary education in country district schools and was a student at the teachers college at Peru, Nebraska, for a time. He has lived in this state continuously since 1887 and is now night editor of the State Journal. During the recent war he was a member of the Lincoln Home Guards. He is a Mason, a Republican, Modern Woodmen, and a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

He was united in marriage at Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, December 7, 1892, to Lauretta Annie Harris. Mrs. McVicker was born at Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska; she is active in religious work and instruction; her parents were born near London, England. They have two children: Hugh Harris, born December 13, 1894, who married Mary E. Gentry, and who is assistant manager of the Lincoln Paint & Color Company; and William James, born April 10, 1896, who married Ada J. Bemis. William is telegraph editor of the Lincoln Star. Ford McWhorter

Ford McWhorter, distinguished banker of Adams County, Nebraska, has lived in this state all his life, and is now active in civic affairs at Hastings. His father, James McWhorter, who is a farmer, was born in County Antrim, Ireland, August 2, 1855, and came to this country in 1863. His mother was born at Salem, Washington County, New York, November 12, 1856; her parents were born in Ireland.

Mr. McWhorter, who was born in Gage County, Nebraska, November 9, 1879, was graduated from the Pierce, Nebraska, High School in 1895, and in 1903, received the Bachelor of Arts degree at Bellevue College, Bellevue, Nebraska. He was awarded college letters in baseball, football, and track.

Today Mr. McWhorter is secretary of the Mortgage-Investment Company at Hastings, and is prominent in community activities. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Hastings, and holds membership in the Kiwanis Club of which he was president in 1929. He is an Elk and Mason, and is a member of the Republican Party. During the World War he was chairman of the Phelps County United War Work Drive, gave a great deal of his time to questionnaire detail service, and took part in loan drives.

His marriage to Lulu Lucretia Johnson was solemnized in Holdrege, Phelps County, Nebraska, January 5, 1910, she was born at Holdrege, June 4, 1888, of Swedish descent. Their three children are: Dean F., born October 12, 1912; Stuart J., born June 9, 1914; and James E., born June 9, 1914. They are all in school. Residence: Hastings.


Charles Wilbur Mead

Charles Wilbur Mead, banker of Omaha, Nebraska, was born at Long Pine, Nebraska, September 25, 1887, the son of Joseph Marshall and Lois Isabelle (Hill) Mead. His father, who was born May 15, 1845, at Gibson, Indiana, and died November 10, 1914, at Maskell, Nebraska, was a furniture merchant for 27 years; he was a Civil War veteran; his ancestors were early settlers in Indiana; his grandfather was a soldier in the War of 1812.

His mother was born October 13, 1850, in Warwick County, Indiana; she is a piano teacher and has been active in the Methodist Church at Long Pine, Maskell, and Omaha. Her parents were born in the British Isles and came to America when young.

Mr. Mead received his education in the public schools, and was valedictorian of his high school graduating class. Since 1919, he has lived at Omaha. He was assistant cashier of the Brown County Bank, 1904-06; was in the collection department of the First National Bank, 1906-07; was assistant cashier of the New Castle State Bank, 1907; was organizer and cashier of the Maskell State Bank, 1908-19. Since 1919 he has been connected with the Omaha Trust Company of which he is now vice president and secretary.

He is a stockholder in several country banks, and is a director of the Omaha Safe Deposit Company. During the World War he was active in loan drives in Dixon County. He holds membership in the Omaha Chamber of Commerce; the Ad Sell League; and the Nebraskana Society. He is a member of the Triangle Club; Athletic Club; and Happy Hollow Club. His favorite sport is tennis. Mr. Mead served as chairman of the Republican central committee for Dixon County for a time.

He was united in marriage with Ada Ellen Hardy at Omaha, September 22, 1915. Mrs. Mead was born in Harrison County, Iowa, November 7, 1895; her ancestry is French, Irish, and Dutch. They have one son, Wilber Marlow. Residence: Omaha.


Mary Mead

Mary Mead, a clubwoman, rancher and nurse, was born near Dannebrog, Nebraska, November 1, 1882, the daughter of Niels and Mary (Jensen) Mead. Her father, who was a rancher, was born near Arthus, Denmark, in 1841, and died in Garfield County, Nebraska, in July, 1917; he served in the Danish-German War and was awarded a medal for his achievements at the siege of Duppel in Schleswig, Prussia. Her mother, whose parents were natives of Denmark, and was born near Arthus, December 8, 1859; her son was killed during the World War, serving with the Princess Pat Regiment of Canada, and the family received a distinguished-service medal for his bravery.

Mrs. Mead was graduated from the public school of Boelus, Nebraska, and attended high school at St. Paul, Nebraska. She taught in public schools of Howard County for two years, has been a nurse and ranch manager for over 30 years, and has taken an active part in welfare work at Blake, Nebraska, during that time. She was cook and part-owner of the Lone Tree Ranch in Garfield County, and holds membership in the W. R. C.

She took a prominent part in Red Cross drives and loan campaigns during the World War, and devoted much time and energy toward helping her county raise its quota of war-relief money. A Democrat, she is committeewoman of her party in Garfield County, but is independent in local politics. Her hobby is reading.

Of her marriage to H. C. Mead, which occurred at Loup City, Nebraska, January 9, 1901, two children were born: Paul, born September 19, 1902; and Myron, born October 31, 1906. Both received education at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture. Residence: Ballagh.


John Peter Medinger

(Fiedler) Medinger, was born. Nicholas and Mary Medinger were both born in Europe at the city of Luxemburg. Nicholas Medinger was a farmer.

John Peter Medinger received his education in the elementary schools. While still a youth he came to this country and began his vocation of farming. Mr. Medinger is a Democrat, and has lived in the state forty-seven years. A Roman Catholic, he is a member of St. Mary's Church of David City. His hobby is reading.

On February 2, 1891, he was united in marriage to Sarah Bougger, of Omaha, Nebraska. She was born February 7, 1867, and died at her home at David City, Nebraska, May 1, 1930. To them were born eight children: Carolina, born February 28, 1892, who is married to W. W. Timms; Julia, born June 12, 1893, who is married to J. B. Speicher; Mary, born August 18, 1896; Nicholas, born February 8, 1898; Frank, born February 8, 1900; John Jr., born September 8, 1901; Joseph, born March 7, 1903; Edward, born January 10, 1905. Residence: David City.


Peter Anthony Meehan

Peter Anthony Meehan, retail shoe merchant at York, York County, Nebraska, was born there September 23, 1891, the son of Dennis and Mary Elizabeth (Gallagher) Meehan. His father, who was born, at Morris, Illinois, August 6, 1863, is a distinguished bank executive, merchant, and community leader at York. He is a director in the First National Bank of York, served as president of the York Commercial Club for several years, was a four minute speaker during the World War, and from 1888 to 1921, was a successful merchant. He is descended from Dennis Meehan and Mary O'Connor who came to America from Ireland, in 1861.

Mary Elizabeth (Gallagher) Meehan, who was born at Canton, Illinois, January 1, 1870, was a teacher in the city schools of Canton before her marriage. She holds various offices in church societies. She is the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Martin) Gallagher, who came to Maryland from Ireland.

Mr. Meehan was a student at St. Ursula's Academy in 1906, and in 1910 was graduated from the York High School. He acted as clerk for Dennis Meehan, Sr., 1910-13, was a partner in the firm, 1913-21, and since 1921 has been a partner of Dennis Meehan, Jr. He is a stockholder in the First National Bank at York, and the McCloud Hotel Company.

For the past three years he has been a member of the board of the York County Red Cross, home service secretary, and a member of the health committee. He has been a director of the York Rotary Club since 1926, and president of this organization from July 1, 1929 to July 1, 1930. He is a member of the Federation of Nebraska Retailers, has served as director of the York County Commercial Club, acting as president of the latter at this time, and is a member of the Nebraskana Society. Trustee of Merici Junior College at York, he is secretary of St. Joseph's Parochial School Society, and is a member of the committee to raise funds for the Young Men's Christian Association.

Mr. Meehan is a member of Leo XIII Council of the Knights of Columbus, acting as recorder for three years, Grand Knight for two years, and district deputy, 1928-29. During the World War he served as corporal of a motor truck company in the American Expeditionary Forces, and saw service at Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, and the Mense-Argonne defensive sector. He was in charge of the first Knights of Columbus drive in York County. He has been first adjutant, second commander, historian and board member of the American Legion, and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was united in marriage with Gertrude Agnes Crowley at Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska, May 2, 1922. Before her marriage Mrs. Meehan was clerk for the county judge in Adams County. She was born at Hastings, the daughter of Jerome Crowley and Agnes (Carney) Crowley. Her ancestry is English and Irish. Residence: York.


Louis Francis Meier

Louis Francis Meier was born in Lancaster County, Nebraska, April 16, 1889, son of Francis William and Susan Elizabeth (Harris) Meier. Francis W. Meier was a native of Hanover, Germany, born March 11, 1831, who came to America in 1858, and homesteaded in Nebraska. His death occurred at Lincoln, February 10, 1911. His wife, Susan Elizabeth Harris was born in Montgomery County, Tennessee, December 1, 1842, and died at Lincoln, September 18, 1925. She was the mother of fourteen children, and was descended from Colonial settlers who served in the Revolution.

Dr. Meier attended the Lincoln public schools and was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1908. His honors there included activity in dramatics, membership in the Ciceronian Debating Society, the track team and basketball team. He was captain of the last mentioned and president of his freshman class. At the University of Nebraska, from which he received the degree of B. Sc. in 1917, he was president of his sophomore class, president of Acacia and conclave representative; he won a reserve letter in basketball, and a numeral for championship class football. He was a member of the Dramatic Club, and belongs to Delta Sigma Delta. He received his D. D. S. degree at the University of Illinois in 1916.

On May 31, 1917, he was married to Mary Hazel Dickson at Panama, Nebraska. She was born at Panama, on May 30, 1895, of Scotch descent. They have one son, Duane, born March 26, 1918.

Since 1916, Dr. Meier has been engaged in practice at Lincoln, and is the author of The Relation of Malnutrition to Dental Defects published in the Dental Summary, 1923. His professional memberships include the Lincoln District Dental Society, the Nebraska State Dental Association and the American Denial Association. He was formerly a first lieutenant in the Dental Reserve Corps, and is a Blue Lodge, York Rite Mason, and Shriner, and a member of the Cosmopolitan International. He attends Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church. He belongs to the Shrine Country Club. Residence: Lincoln.


Bernard Meister

Bernard Meister, son of Charles and Catherine (Peatrowsky) Meister, was born at West Point, Nebraska, April 24, 1900. His father who was a farmer, died at West Point, on April 10, 1916. He received his education in parochial school, and upon the death of his father became a farmer.

On June 21, 1922, he was married to Gertrude Wilhelmina Kaup, at West Point. Mrs. Meister was born at West Point, October 1, 1903. They have adopted two children, Charles Louis, born January 24, 1926, and Helen Phyllis, born November 22, 1925.

Mr. Meister is a Catholic, and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He is a life member of the Nebraskana Society, and an out-standing citizen in his community. His favorite sport is baseball. Residence: West Point.


John Edward Mekota

John E. Mekota, county attorney of Saline County, Nebraska, was born at Solon, Iowa, April 23, 1893. His father, Frank Mekota, was born in Czechoslovakia, Jannary 66, 1860, and died at Solon, September 30, 1924; he came to America with his parents in 1869. Anna (Vlach) Mekota, his mother, was born at Iowa City, Iowa, June 3, 1867, of Bohemian ancestry.
