"IT'S the way a man takes care of himself that makes him an athlete. He has to eat enough good food and be temperate in all of his habits.
   "I have been here at Nebraska for twenty-three years, and will probably be here as long as I can work; I always have and always will try to keep the boys from doing those things that don't do them any good. There isn't anything that I wouldn't do for the boys. I feel just like they are mine, and when they come back after they have graduated I always like to see them and they always come around here to the 'Gym' and see me.
   "I have had lots of offers, since I have been here, but I am going to stick right here at old Nebraska and help turn out the kind of men that not only makes winning teams but also upholds our standards when they get out in the world."
