Producer's note: Check a few of these town articles. All were influenced by the railroads. Many towns had suffered fires in their business centers during the prior 2-3 years. The emphasis is on erecting brick buildings and developing "water works". Flour milling is vital to the surrounding farmers. A few towns mention gas or electric lighting, "telephonic connections". One has a skating rink! Some state they are "temperance towns".
