“Maggie Connors” was born on 7 December 1880 in Manhattan, New York. She was left at the New York Foundling Hospital by her mother, name unknown, on 28 December 1880 at the age of 3 weeks old, given the Orphan number #11083. She was baptized on 29 December 1880. Later taking the name Marguerite “Maggie” Aloysius Connors. Maggie and her foster sister Fanny Astor/Astors was taken to Dewitt, Iowa by Agent Robert Curran aboard the Orphan Train in March of 1886 and were given to Mrs. Ann Kilty. Mr. & Mrs. Martin Kilty of Dewitt, Iowa raised the girls. Maggie married 25 December 1899 to Ransom Esdras Baker of College Twp., Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa. They were married by, The Rev. Father Patrick Maher, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Dewitt, Clinton County, Iowa. Maggie and Ransom had 10 children 2 of which died at birth. Joseph (22 November 1900), Albina (1902), Infant (1904-1905), Marie (10 March 1906), Infant (1907) Esdras Aloysius (18 January 1908), Genevieve Harriet (18 August 1909), Raymond (18 May 1911), Fern (10 September 1914) and Violet Loretto (7 August 1915). Maggie and Ransom moved their family from Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1911 to Two Harbors, Minnesota. Maggie searched her whole life for her parents and died 27 April 1949 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota never finding her parents.

"Fanny Astor/Astors" was born on 25 September 1879 in Brooklyn, New York she was left by her Aunt; this was Fanny’s mother last request. She was taken to the New York Foundling Hospital on 25 November 1879 and baptized at that time; she was 2 months old and was given the Orphan number 10073. Fanny was the foster sister of Maggie Connors and was also taken to Dewitt, Iowa by Agent Robert Curran aboard the Orphan Train in March of 1886 and was given to Mrs. Ann Kilty. Mr. & Mrs. Martin (Mark and MaryJ.)  Kilty of Dewitt, Iowa raised the girls. Fanny later took the name Francis Astors; she married on 18 March 1906 to John W. Gilroy in South Chicago, Illinois. Fanny and John never had children of their own, but Fanny remained very close to her nieces and nephews.
