I'm looking for information on the James Family in Deerfield. Specifically the family of Benjamin James who was listed as living in Deerfield in the 1800 census. He may have been brother or uncle to the John James also listed as being in Deerfield in the 1800 census . He may have been originally from Hampton and/or may be related to the John James who help found Deerfield. He is also listed in the index to the 1820 census as still residing in the town of Deerfield. I think my line may be related to him through Joseph James (1783-1848) born possibly in Gilmanton NH. There is a Benjamin James in Gilmanton in 1776 (as per the list of Inhabitants of NH in 1776 by Emily S Wilson). There is also a Benjamin james in Strafford Co in the 1790 census who has children listed for him of the right age to include my Joseph. Any assistance with this line would be appreciated.
