ALLEN
Wondering if notes of Alonzo Allen, town clerk of Croyden in
the Civil War era, which were reported to be microfilmed in
1970 with the town records contain any information on
1. His parentage
2. His spouse and descendents.
I have an Alonzo Allen ancestor, and anotherAllen, Dwight S.
who married a Frances Streeter... I know there was an Alonzo
born in New York State about 1837, and wondered if the Town
Clerk was any relation or possibly the same party.
I would greatly appreciate any information you could provide
for me.

ALLEN
Hello, I found your address on the New Hampshire Web Gen page. I you
could help me find a few more of my family, I'd be grateful. My
great-great-great grandfather was David Allen, who made his residence in
Newport, NH. b. 13 mMay 1777 in Killingworth, CT and d. 27 Dec, 1840,
presumably in Newport. I have his father listed as Gideon Allen of
Killingworth, CT with wife "Patience" . Nothing more about them. I'd
like to trace it back a litte more and try to find if Gideon was a
soldier of the Revolution, who he was related to, etc. Any ideas? Have
you heard of him? I can provide descendents information, if anyone
wants them. Joyce Allen-Luopa

CHAPMAN
I would like to request a look up for:
1) marriage record for Benjamin Chapman to an Abigail ?????? in or about
1787. It may also be under Nabby ????? rather than Abigail ?????.
2) a death record for an Abigail Chapman Oct 27, 1788. It may be for a
Mrs. Nabby Chapman on this same date.
I have a book written in 1896 which contains an epitaph for this woman
as the first wife of Rev. Benjamin Chapman. Rev. Ben's family moved to
the Plainfield area about 1767/8 when Ben was about 10. Ben later
studied at Dartmouth to become a minister, graduating in 1784. By 1790,
Rev. Ben had married Caroline Matilda Fuller at Dartmouth.
I would love to find Mrs. Nabby.
Thank you.

GAGNE
I have been searching for the marriage date of my
great-grandparents for a very long time. I do know that my grandfather
Joseph Alfred Gagne was born in Claremont, N.H. on 8 March 1872. His
parents were Ferdinand or Ferdina Gagne and Mary or Marie Cyr. Alfred
was their first child. The only information that I have been able to
obtain for Mary is her name. I was told that Alfred's parents were
from Canada. After he left the U.S. he moved his family to Ste. Helene
de Chester, which is close to Arthabaska County and Victoriaville,P.Q.
I was told that at one time Mary Cyr had relatives in Claremont.
Would you be able to make a search and find some information to the
above. I would be greatful for any new information.
I am illeterate with computers but I am trying to overcome it. Looking
forward to your reply.

HUTCHINSON & GOODWIN
The published town records of Newport, Sullivan Co., NH, show the marriage of Abigail HUTCHINSON to Benjamin
GOODWIN in 1796. There is however an apparently later entry duplicating the same year of marriage which gives her first
name differently, so there is unfortunately even some minor doubt whether her first name was Abigail.
Her grandson prepared a diary in the late 1800s which identified his grandmother as Abigail HUTCHINSON, born 13
January 1768 in Andover, MA. However, there is no such birth in the published Andover town records.
Would appreciate any information on her or any information, thoughts or suggestions on any HUTCHINSON families in the vicinity of Sullivant Co. NH between 1770 and 1800.
Also interested in exchanging information with anyone working on the GOODWINS of Newport. -- Kit

Hi, perhaps you could help me locate info on a Peter STEVENS, b. 2 Feb. 1807, Springfield Twp., Sullivan Co. Parents were John W. STEVENS & Anna
JUDKINS. I am interested to learn if Peter married while in NH & if perhaps died there. I am researching a Peter STEVENS that according to family bible was b. 1808 in Chester, VT. However, I can not locate any records what so ever of him in VT. This is a long shot, but perhaps he was born in NH, the closest Peter I have found was b. 1807 in Sullivan Co. The only true facts I have is that "my" Peter settled in NYS for a time & married there in 1839. He later settled in IL. & died there. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Pete. Alaska

Sumner - Hutchins
Joshua Hutchins.(Born in Lunenburg, Ma, 27 May 1768, died in Canada.) He lived for a time in
Walpole, NH. He married the following two sisters, one at a time!
Elizabeth Sumner (b. 14 Aug 1772 place unknown, died in Canada.)
Judith 0r Judah Sumner (b. 11 Oct 1775 place unknown, died in Canada.)
****James, Joshua's sister, Matilda Hutchins, married, in Charlestown,
in Nov 1803, George Wheaton Sumner of Claremont, NH, but Charles
apparently did not have sisters with the names in question. Some-
where in the area, the two sisters were born. I am searching for
their birthplaces and their parents. I can't afford to come to NH
(I live in Vancouver, B.C.) but I would gladly PAY you or any re-
searcher you could suggest. Joshua travelled through VT to immigrate
to Canada bet. 1790-1799 so he may have met the sisters in VT, but
I doubt it. I would bet they are from the Walpole/Charlestown/
Claremont area. Can you help me ? (Judith, or Judah, Sumner is
easier to look up as it is less common than Elizabeth, though
Eliz. is my g.g.g.grandmother.) Any help at all would be so much
appreciated. Rosemary Linn

WALKER - KEMPTON
I am looking for some genealogical information,
and I hope that you can point me in the right direction.
I am looking for birth and death records for two of
my ancestors:
1. Joab (or Job) Walker b. circa 1790 (in Croydon
or Grantham, NH (?))
2. Thankfull Kempton b. circa 1790 (in Croydon, NH.
Her father is Samuel(?) Kempton)
Joab and Thankfull were married sometime before 1828
(which is when their son, Henry J. Walker, was born).
I have looked in the Bureau of Vital Statistics in
Concord for this information, but have come up empty handed.
Any information that you can provide will be
most appreciated!
Sincerely,
Jonathan Lamy

WHEELER
I have been searching for several years for my direct ancestor, Whitcher
Wheeler, born abt 1774 at Goffstown, m. Lydia Cheney abt 1795. LDS records
say his father was Nathaniel Wheeler. The nearest Nathaniel Wheeler I can
find is Nathaniel Wheeler, married to Mehitabel Haven of Croydon, NH.
Whitcher Wheeler was a Baptist by religion. Whitcher and Lydia's son,
George Washington Wheeler, lived most of his life at Bow, NH.
Are there any records of the children of Nathaniel and Mehitabel (Haven)
Wheeler of Croydon, NH. I know that this Nathaniel was a Rev. War veteran.
Thank you and sincerely yours, William M. Hopkins

Claremont, NH from about 1767 to mid 1790's. The 1790 US census lists him

siblings (he was a triplet), any information about his parents. Thank you!!
