He was sick in the hospital for a time in 1863 and ended up staying on for detached service on a Hospital ship at Bermuda Hundred Virginia I believe. After the war he became a railroad engineer in NH. He died in Manchester on Dec 5, 1921 and is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery Manchester NH.
