John Minot STANYAN, Captain, b.1828 - d.1905 Milford, NH. In 1861 he opened a recruiting office in Milford, enlisting and training 23 men. They joined the camp in Manchester, where they made up the quota of 100 men to complete Co. B of the 8th NH. John was commissioned Capt.  Wounded Port Hudson- taken prisoner- released.  He was historian of his Reg. His monument in the Riverside Cem. in Milford was erected by his comrades and friends. From: his bio in his volume "Poems of Soldiers and Sailors"  and town history.

Seth PRESTON, Sergeant, born New Ipswich, NH, Credited to Mason, Hillsborough;  enlisted Dec, 20, 1861 age 21; re-enlisted Jan. 4, 1864; mustered out Oct. 28, 1865.
