  • The Glass Industry began at Wistar Glass Factory in Alloway, Salem County. But it really got a boost with the arrival of Jacob and Catherine Stanger and their seven sons.
The sons worked at Wistar, but soon started Olive Glass Works in Glassboro. There skill and the pristine sand in the area, brought great notoriety to the term "South Jersey Glass".

Glassboro, Vineland and Millville were the centers of the glass industry.
