He has been associated here with the practice of both private and public medicine; his affiliations include the position of physician to the board of health of Palisades Park, and to other special groups here; he is on the staff of nearby hospitals, and is a member of the various medical societies. Dr. Salva also is interested in fraternal and social organizations here, in which he plays an enthusiastic part, and finds time for several interesting and creative hobbies, which add to his own enjoyment and to that of his friends and neighbors as well. Edo Joseph Salva was born at Ridgefield Park, in 1909, son of Anthony and Rose (Alessandro) Salva, both of whom are still living. His father was born in Italy; coming to the United States as a boy, he early became employed in work which gave him opportunity to put in his full effort and in return to save money; he is now a merchant, with headquarters in Ridgefield park. Anthony and Rose (Alessandro) Salva were the parents of another son Louis; he is now employed with the New York Central Railroad. Growing up at Ridgefield Park, Edo Joseph attended the elementary and high schools there, graduating form the latter in 1927, after receiving the customary preparatory education. He then matriculated at New York University for his undergraduate studies, completed the technical curriculum there, and took the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1932. For his medical training, he turned to the Hahnermann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his professional courses there, and received the degree of Doctor of Medicine at the college's 1936 commencement. Dr. Salva spent his period of internship at the East Orange General Hopsital, East Orange. After completing this final requirement, he came to Palisades Park, in 1937, and began to engage in a private practice of medicine. Dr. Salva now is physician to the board of health of Palisades Park, and to the Baby Keep Well group, and is a member of the staff of the Holy Name Hospital, at Teaneck, one of the representative local institutions. He is a member of the Bergen County Medical Society, the New Jersey State Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Dr. Salva is physician to the lodge, and is a member of the Coronation Countil, at Fort Lee. He engages in a number of hobbies, which include woodcarving, sketching in wood, sculpture and sculpuring in soap. He plays the violin, and also enjoyes the hobby of home photography. In 1941, at Garfield, Dr. Edo Joseph Salva was married to Edith Scibetta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Scibetta; a native of Lodi, she received her advanced education at the Montclair Teachers College, and was later a teacher in the Lodi High School. -------------------
