[Excerpt from The Cuba Patriot, August 16, 1894, Cuba, Allegany County, NY]

"The oldest cemetery in Allegany County is located at Elm Valley, about five miles from Wellsville. Nathaniel Dyke, the first white settler in the county in 1795, and Stephen Cole, who settled there in 1796, each lie buried in this cemetery also the remains of Daniel Cole, the first white person born in Allegany."
