LILLIAN B. ALLEN, 94 formerly of 428 South Main Street passed away on Thursday June 24, 2004 at the WellsvilleHighlandHealthcareCenter. She was born on December 29, 1909 in Rexville, NY the daughter of
William and Mary (Keefe) Butler. On February 10, 1943 in Corning, NY she married Forrest H. Allen, who predeceased her January 22, 1975. She was a former resident of Rexville,
NY. She was a 1928 graduate of WhitesvilleHigh School, and received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from GeneseoStateTeachers College in 1936. She taught in the
Whitesville, Andover, and Wellsville schools for 40 years, retiring in 1971. In 1957, she obtained her insurance and broker’s license from Rochester Institute of Technology.
She taught and insurance licensing class at AlfredAg-TechCollege for several years. In 1975, she became associated with Allen, Dygert, and Hauser Insurance Agency in Wellsville
and was an employee for 27 years, retiring in 1998. Lillian was a member of the Retired Teachers Associations of Wellsville, AlleganyCounty, and New YorkState; the Delta Kappa
Gamma Society, and the Wellsville Chapter of American Association of University Women. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Burton Chapter #129 in Wellsville,
the White Shrine, Wellsville Business and Professional Women’s Club, and New York State Christmas Tree Growers Association. She was honored in 1996 by the Wellsville Business
and Professional Women’s Association for having worked the Hospital Country Fair for 36 years. She is survived by 3 nephews: William Butler Sr. of Ulysses, PA; Walter Edward
Greek of Dansville, NY; Ronald Blodgett of Lima, NY; 2 nieces: Mary Burgess of Andover, NY; and Joanne Bliss of Lima, NY. She is predeceased by 2 Sisters: Ida Atkins Lisi, Mary
Veronica Rowe, and a brother: Edwin Butler. Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in
Wellsville. The funeral service will be on Sunday, June 27 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Eastlack presiding. Burial will be in WoodlawnCemetery, Wellsville.
Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the David A. Howe Public Library, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
