Mr. Billings was born Dec. 5, 1947, in Wellsville, to John W. and Syble (Winchell) Billings. He was a 1967 graduate of Andover Central School. He served in the United States Marines in Vietnam from 1968-69, receiving a purple heart. On Sept. 5, 1970, he married Denise Collins in Wellsville, who survives.

John worked for Frontier Telephone for 36 years from 1971 to present.

John is survived by two sons, Jered Billings, of Andover, and Tyler Billings, of Corning; four brothers, David (Tena) Billings, of Bath, Donald Billings, of Wellsville, Edward (Bonnie) Billings, of Whitesville, and Paul (Diana) Winchell, of Belmont; five sisters, Judy Billings, Priscella (Robert) Thompson and Rose Mary (David) Munkes, all of Wellsville, Josephine (Ken) Sheppard, of Staverton, England, and Ella (Larry) McGinnis, of Andover; a sister-in-law, Kathy Winchell, of Wellsville; two granddaughters, Kayla Wycoff and Aleeya Billings; one uncle; four aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
