DIED

Bartlett – In Alma, NY Monday, February 6, 1882, Josiah Bartlett aged 68 years, 4 months and 27 days.

Mr. Bartlett was born October 9, 1819 in the State of Maine.  In 1840, he was married to Miss Nancy Tainter.  In the fall of 1853, he came to New York State, bringing with him his wife and six children.  Mr. Bartlett lost no time in contracting a piece of land in the town of Alma, where he has since lived.  The country being new and his means small it required great skill and good management to hew from the sturdy forest a home.  Notwithstanding all the inevitable hardships, he accomplished the great work and provided for his family in every way, making his home one to be long remembered by many.

Mr. Bartlett leaves a wife and nine children to mourn the loss of a true husband and loving father.
