DAVID M. BOGLE
WELLSVILLE—David M. Bogle, 80, of 50 Scott Avenue, died Friday (March 24, 2003) at home.
He was born May 24, 1922 in Tyler, PA., a son of Howard Bogle and Sarah Lewis Bogle.
He was married November 6, 1948, in WeIlsville to Ida May Marsh who predeceased him on January 25, 1980.
David was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1941 to 1947. During his service he was awarded the American Defense Medal, the American Area Medal, World War II Victory medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2530, in Wellsville, where he was Past Commander and for many years was the Chaplain. He was a member of the American Legion Post 702, of Wellsville. He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and a life member of the NRA.
He retired in 1974 from G.E. Air Preheater.
He was a Little League Baseball umpire, and when his health was good he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include, three daughters, Leisha (Craig) Smith of Wellsville, Amelia (Leonard) Abbey of Hollyhill, Fl., Bonnie (Ted) Knight of Perry, three sons, Harold (Sheila) Bogle of Chittenango, Thomas Bogle of Buffalo, Daniel (June) Miller of Fillmore, ten grandchildren and three great granddaughters, a brother Thomas (Jerri) Bogle of Wellsville, a sister Loretta Miller of Perry and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Charles and James Bogle and three children Florence, Brian and William Bogle.
Friends called Saturday, March 22, 2003 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A funeral service with full military honors followed at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. The Reverend Ralph Eastlack officiated. There was Full Military Honors. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
