He was the Vice President for the FedExCup of the PGA TOUR, an active member of the Washington, D.C. community and the Catholic Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. While living in Ponte Vedra Beach, he was an active member of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Mr. Burger joined the TOUR on October 3, 2005, as Vice President-Special Projects, after serving for many years as a public relations strategist, political consultant and campaign manager. He was involved with the event as an active member of Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, including a term on the Club's Board of Trustees, and served as The Presidents Cup's General Chairman and Tournament Director in 2005. As VP-Special Projects, Mr. Burger worked with most TOUR departments on a variety of matters and was charged with conducting an ongoing analysis of the strength of TOUR events in the areas of tournament revenue growth and fan/community relations. In November 2006, Mr. Burger was named Vice President of the FedExCup, and was responsible for communication with all PGA TOUR constituencies, including FedEx, on the overall management of the TOUR's newly developed FedExCup competition. Family members include his wife, Patti. His parents, Bernard W. Burger and Rose Mary Burger, predeceased him. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 5th, in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with a Prayer Vigil at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00a.m., Tuesday, February 6th, in the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 545 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, with Bishop Paul Loverde as Celebrant, followed by interment in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
