Arthur B. Burr

Caneadea – Arthur B. Burr, 78, of School St., died Saturday, March 18, 1978 at the Olean General Hospital.

 

He was born in the town of Caneadea June 11, 1899, a son of Jackson and Elizabeth Stewart Burr.  He married the former Emma R. Griggs, who survives.

Prior to retirement in 1962 due to ill health, Mr. Burr had been employed by the New York State Dept of Transportation for 20 years, and had been a school bus driver and custodian for the Belfast Central School for 10 years.

 

He attended the Caneadea United Methodist Church.

 

Other survivors are two sons, LeRoy Burr of Hilton and Robert Burr of North Chili; two daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Betty) Howden of Rossburg and Mrs Charles (Lucia) Wilcox of Fillmore; 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. G. Mildred Collins of Belfast, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Private funeral services were at the Kopler Funeral Home, Fillmore, with burial in Burrville Cemetery, town of Caneadea.
