'Dan' Young Dies at Age of 97 Years; Funeral on Saturday

"Dan" Young is dead.

One of Wellsville's most unusual citizens died yesterday in Jones Memorial Hospital at the age of 97.

He was famous for his long beard, his cane and his familiar walk as he came to town on frequent visits.

"Dan" was born in Wellsville, a son of George and Elizabeth Young, and lived all his life here.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Shelly of Hallsport.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Embser Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wellsville.
