Jean B. Ketcham, Extension Agent
Warsaw – Jean B. Ketcham, 66 of 84 Butternut St, Wyoming County Agricultural Extension agent for 23 years, died Saturday July 8, 1978 at home after a brief
illness.
Mr. Ketcham received the distinquished service award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in 1959. During his tenure as agent, potato
production in Wyoming County grew to a $3 million business. He was secretary of the United Potato Growers Association and a member of the State Association of County Agricultural
Agents.
Mr. Ketcham also belonged to the Agents Association, Fair Board, Conservation Association, 4H Youth and Hunter Training Programs and the Sportsman Federation
of Youth Programs.
He was a graduate of Geneva High School and Cornell University and did graduate work at Michigan State University.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margeret Powers, a daughter, Mrs. Douglas Firman of Springfield VA; two sisters, Kathleen Ketcham of Coral Cables Fla and
Ada F….(overlap of pages) of Seneca Castle, NY and .. grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9 am Tuesday in the ..Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca.
