EMMA LOU CLEVELAND KING Allentown-- Emma Lou Cleveland King, 66, of White Hill Road, died Monday (May 15, 1995) at her home. She was born March 11, 1929, in Wellsville, a daughter of Luman J. Cleveland and Kathryn Christman. She married Donald E. King, who survives, on July 22, 1950, in Portville. Mrs. King was a life-long resident of the Allentown area. She was a 1946 graduate of Allentown Union School who graduated from the Ohio Institute of Medical Technology in 1948. She was a medical lab technician for the Coudersport Hospital. Mrs. King operated Don and Emm's Antiques, with her husband, in Allentown. She was past president of the Allegany County Republican Women, the bookkeeper for the Allentown Garage for 25 years, a member of St. Mary's Church in Bolivar, and a life member of the Alma Rod and Gun Club. Mrs. King had been the historian for the Town of Alma for a number of years. At the time of her death, she was in the process of writing a history book about Allentown and the oil fields. Mrs. King was active with the Allegany County Bird Club. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, birding and wild flowers. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her mother of Wellsville, two daughters, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" (Stephen) Lewis of Andover and Anne Griswold of Allentown; two grandchildren, Michelle Koskie of Andover and Brandon Smith of Allentown; two step daughters, Tammy Lewis of Andover and Stephanie Lewis of Wellsville. Also surviving are three brothers, Wendell Cleveland of Horseheads, Luman Cleveland of Orchard Park and Sidney Cleveland of Lansing; three sisters, Sara Stephens of Allentown, Margaret Cleveland of Vestal and Esther Turner of Rochester; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A prayer service will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Bolivar with Rev. Richard Poblocki, pastor of St. Mary's Church as celebrant. The family suggests memorials be made to the Comstock Hospice Health Care Network. |
