Kenneth J. Sylor

 

Short Tract Kenneth J. Sylor, 82, of Short Tract, died Tuesday, Sept 1, 1981 in Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.

 

Born Sept 3, 1898, he was the son of Adelbert and Pearl Cox Sylor.  On June 30, 1931 he married the former Miona Bennett, who predeceased him in 1972.

 

Mr. Sylor was a self employed blacksmith and was also employed as a welder at Bell Aircraft Corporation in Niagara Falls during World War II.  He was highway superintendent in the Town of Allen for two terms.

 

Surviving are a son Alton Sylor of Fillmore, five daughters, Mrs. John (Della) Mertens of Templeton Ca,  Mrs. Norma Laxson of Tonawanda, Mrs. Lloyd (Theda) Clark and Mrs. Robert (Vonda)Bower, both of Fillmore, and Mrs. Richard (Vesta) Essler of Rochester, 24 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Schue of Olean and Mrs. George (Crystal) Emerson of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Friends may call at the Kopler Funeral Home, 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore, today from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm where funeral and committal services will be held Friday Sept 4, 1981 at 2 pm.  The Rev. David Hotchkiss of Dansville will officiate.  Burial will be in the Short Tact Cemetery, Town of Granger.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
