(From Wellsville Daily Reporter - Obituaries - 7/31/1961; Files of Ron Taylor) GILBERT M. TAYLOR, SR. Gilbert M. Taylor, Sr. of Allentown died at his home yesterday after an illness of several years. He was 75 years old. Born in Alma, he spent most of his life there. He was employed by Patterson and Mitchell Co. as an oil worker until his retirement in 1951. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lina Quick Taylor; four daughters, Mrs. Guy Day of Girvin, Tex., Mrs. Clarence Bailey of Eagle Pass, Tex., Mrs. Carl Smith of Shinglehouse, Pa., and Mrs. Edwin VanDruff of Allentown; three sons, Gilbert Taylor, Jr. of Andover, Floyd Taylor of Brunswick, Ga., and Glen Taylor of Youngstown; two brothers, Isaac Taylor of Alma and Wayne Taylor of Shinglehouse; five sisters, Mrs. Ralph Olmstead of Derrick City, Pa., Mrs. Blanche Lunn of Wellsville, Mrs. Ethel Gorton of Alma, Mrs. Henry Trette of Shinglehouse and Mrs. Donald Scott of Alma; 56 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. The body is at the family home, where funeral services will held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Carlton Spencer of Lima will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima. Brooklyn Avenue, Wellsville died Saturday at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. She was 81. She was born in Alma and she married Gilbert Taylor on May 14, 1908. He died in 1961. Mrs. Taylor was a long time resident of the area and was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Wellsville. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Crystal Day of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Clarence (Letha) Bailey of San Angelo, Tex., Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Smith of Shinglehouse, Pa. and Mrs. Irwin (should be Edwin)(Onalee) VanDruff of Wellsville, three sons Gilbert Jr. of San Angelo, Tex., Floyd of Newark, Del., and Glenn of Elkton, Md., three sisters, Mrs. Myrtie Dickerson, Mrs. Vida Dickerson and Mrs. Loel Outsway (should be Lael Ordway) all of Little Genesee, 34 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call in the West Wing of the Embser Funeral Home in Wellsville Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held Tuesday at the Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Daniel Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Full Gospel Church.
