Sudden Death of Mrs. Anna Williams

Mrs. Anna Williams of 162 North Main Street was found dead at her home Saturday afternoon about 4:30 o’clock. She had not been seen by neighbors since about 3:30 o’clock Friday afternoon. Upon investigation Saturday afternoon, she was found lying dead on the floor of the living room. Coroner Cooley was called and pronounced death due to heart failure. She had apparently been dead about twenty four hours.

Mrs. Williams was born in Rhode Island, January 2, 1849, being seventy seven years three months and twenty four days old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Gilbert D and Ruth (Perry) Crandall, both of whom were born in Rhode Island.

Mrs. Williams is survived by one brother C. O. Crandall of Angelica, a niece, Mrs. Fred Hubbard of Wellsville, a nephew, Eugene Crandall of Ashville, North Carolina and an adopted nephew, Clinton Crandall of Buffalo.

The body was removed to the undertaking Room of Corwin and Taylor from where the funeral was held this afternoon at one o’clock. Rev. Fair? Of Angelica officiating. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery in Scio.

NOTE: Anna Crandall Williams was the widow of Civil War Veteran, Seneca Williams. Both resided in Town of Alma following the Civil War before relocating to Connecticut. Separately, Seneca returned to Alma area visiting relatives and then became a patient at the Dayton National Hospital where he died in 1910. Seneca is buried in Ohio at the National Cemetery at Dayton. (Ronald G. Taylor)
