The photos presented in this Wittie Collection pages are from the original negatives done by the late Dick Wittie, Photographer, from Andover, NY Dick traveled to many racetracks as a professional photographer of the day and officially represented many of the
tracks. Below is a photo of Dick (at left) in his usual white garb shown here with an unknown driver at Perry, NY.
The negatives are owned by Dick's widow, Neva Wittie, and son Marty Wittie. It is through their generosity
that we are able to share the photos. The original negatives were loaned to William A. Greene of Andover who has painstakingly restored them to as close as original form and produced the works shown here. I personally thank Neva and family for allowing us to
publish them here for perhaps the first time as a collection. Most of the photos have no caption since we at the website do not know who the drivers and people photographed are. If you know anyone (for certain) in any of these photos we will be very happy to
hear from you so we can fill in the details. Ron Taylor, Webmaster; email: RON TAYLOR

Car 101, Bill Tingue (Update: Barry D. Van Buren states: picture number #50 on page three. That is not Bill Tingue. You have other pictures in the collection that are Bill in the #101, but that picture is not. He
drove with an old suicide knob which was amazing! Also this was a little later in his career as I remembered him in the red #26x. The #101 must have been earlier? " OK, so who is the winning driver?? " Don Klink. I
noticed that picture #59 on the same page looks like the same car? You can not see the driver that well he is in the car, but if you look at the number it looks like 101, and if you compare the bottom of the "1's" in both pictures they look the same. Also the tires on the car look the
same, and the bent up hood. I think it is the same car? Herb Layfield agrees......Don Klink
