RAIL SECTION FOUND

FROM

BRADFORD, ELDRED & CUBA RAILROAD

The Wellsville, Bolivar & Eldred Railroad Company was formed in 1881 only to be sold to Bradford, Eldred & Cuba Railroad before laying one rail.

The railroad started up operations in 1881 and removed track in 1893, only 12 short years during the oil boom years.

Sometime in the last 50 years, John Sloan of Allentown found a 26" cutout of rail that had been left behind, probably because of removal during the operating years due to cracking.  John kept the rail section and then gave it to Don King of Allentown who recently gave it to me.  The chunk of rail was found in the swampy area on his oil lease just west of Allentown where the B. E. & C. Railroad traveled.

The 26" piece weighs 25lbs and is 3" high and 3" wide on base.

This is the only proven piece of the B. E. & C. Railroad operating equipment known in existence.....
