Allegany County, NY - Local History & Genealogy Tip Top, the highest point on the old Erie Line holds a fascination in the History of the Steam Trains era. Below are some vintage photos of the Tip Top Station area. Visible in this photo are the main lines, siding with car on right, water tank (which still exists in poor condition, minus the tank) and the elevated station house. Above 3 pictures, "This is all that is left of the water tower that stood at Tip Top. I think it's the only thing left that is related to the steam era." Bill Greene 11/27/2003. Profile of the Allegheny Division showing the footage above sea-level of the various stations spread across Allegany County from Hornell to Salamanca. Gauging the Tracks - Must have been a great job riding thru the scenery! What a Design! The Station at Tip Top saw many a famous visitor. Wish I could have seen the action in it's glory days. return to: Erie Pictures Page Home return to: SITE INDEX
