All unknown; 1920 Team at Rushford H.S.

Submitted by Laura Danner;

My 92 year old mother, Irene Drew Worthington, has lived in Rushford most of her life.

She was able to identify the first three players of the 1921 basketball team (bottom row L to R) as Lawrence Smith, Ozzie Davies (later became Rushford's banker) and Don James whose father was a local cheese maker.  She said  that the picture was taken in the old auditorium.

In the 1920 women's basketball team the teacher (1st in picture) is Jennie Wilmot.  Jennie was a half sister to Billy and Gordon Wilmot.  She later moved to Austin, Texas and taught at a university there.  She and Mary Wilmot (Billy's wife) co-authored a cookbook.  The second person in the picture is Hattie Clark.  She later married Lawrence Smith who was in the previous picture.

The baseball team was a town team and she was able to identify 4 players.  In the top row the first player is Greydon Davis.  The second is Dr. H. K. Hardy.  In the middle seated row the last man on the right is Walter Woods and his brother Harlan Woods is the middle player in the bottom row.

In the picture of the boys bb team taken on the steps she believes that the second from the left is Lavern Harris.

My mother has a postcard that is similar to the one of the snow tunnel, but her's shows several local men who helped dig the tunnel including Holly Brady and John Lappan.

I hope that you can make use of this information.
