Above photo, R.A.Wells Clothing: (From Houston, TX, Val Ross writes)
"In the Don Baldwin photos, book 1, page 12, about half-way down there is a photo of a clothing store with "R.A. Wells" on it. That's a relative of
mine and I can exactly date that photo based on the diaries I have.
Ralph A. Wells moved to Wellsville from the family farm in Wirt on December 26, 1888. He came with his wife Lina (Applebee) Wells and
daughters Lillian and Leslie. He opened the clothing store with "K" (no further information on that). It must not have been a go, as he was back on the farm with his family by 1890. So that
photo has to be 1889.
Ralph was the son of Nancy Ann (LeSuer) Wells and George Wells, descending from Harris Wells and Sally (Fish) Wells. I believe he is the one standing
a little further back in the doorway. He was a sharp dresser who didn't enjoy farm life. He ran another store in Big Shanty, Pennsylvania."
