The house at the upper right exists today in much the same condition as pictured. The picture is looking toward Bolivar with the intersection of State Route 417 & Phillips Hill Road. The Phillips Hill Road is visible going upward to the right. These youths are standing in the oily waters of the Knights Creek which flows from the Vossburg area to Scio where it empties into the Genesee River. It was well known for flooding until a large sluice was installed to pipe it underneath the school property. The Hardware building was operated until near the start of WWII. It then became a grocery store for several years. The grocery store was operated by two members of the Williams family and then sold to Ed Palmer & wife, Gert. Upon the death of Ed about 1953 Gert ran the store until the 1990's. The hardware was torn down and a filled-in area is now the corner of Phillips Hill Road.
