Hi Ronald,
I have had this picture for a few years and know that the people in the front seat of this car are Ward and Edna Swarthout (My Grandparents). I also know that they
were married in Allentown, NY on Nov 11, 1912. The mystery is who those people are in the back seat. This could have been taken in Allegany County or in Paola, Kansas as they did
move to Paola sometime between 1912 and 1918. Pat Bradfuhrer

This photo (about 1972) is of the 2nd building which was used as Alma Hill Schoolhouse, District #4. The first building was moved down
Ford's Brook Road to near the intersection of Road 106 and used as the 106 Schoolhouse. The above photo is submitted by the current owners Dennis & Kathy Dunham who
have added to the original and remodeled into a most attractive home. They can brag that they live in a Schoolhouse on the hill !
It is highly possible that this is near (if not at) the highest altitude of any school in the state at 2460 feet. |
