Researched & Submitted by Richard Palmer

Wellsville Reporter, Sat., July 30, 1881

"The line of the Scio and Allentown Telephone company is completed to Richburg and business opened this morning. Twenty cents is the established tariff on messages over the entire line. In addition to this wire-line communication Mr. Newell of Bradford, the owner of the telephone right for Allegany county, is putting up a line from Richburg to Bradford, which will give direct connection with the oildom's headquarters. The Roberts Torpedo Co. are also said
to be contemplating a private close communion wire over the same route, so that Richburg will soon be able to speak for herself so far as she wants to."
