Regiment of NYS Vols of the State of New York Ages 23 Gens

5 feet 6 inches high Sandy Complexion Blue Eyes Sandy Hair

and by Occupation a Laborer having joined the Company

on it's original Orgainzation at Hudson, NY an enrolled in it

at the Muster into the Service of the United States at Porte

Barracks, NY City on the First Day of November 1863 Coswas (unclear)

 

Mustered in Service as a Recruit by Adgt R D Lathrop at

Hudson, NY on the 23 Day of Sept 1862 to Serve in the Regt

for the term of three years And having lived honestly  and

Faithfully with his Company in the Dept of the Gulf 19th Army

Corps to the present date is now entitled to a Discharge

by reason of Death. Died in Regt Hospital at Baton Rouge

La 10th day of January 1862.

                                           The said William Houghtailing

has never been paid. He has recd 31 82/100 dollars advanced

by the United States on account of clothing-----
