JEREMIAH KELLERHOUSE

     Jeremiah Kellerhouse, (1815-1863), citizen of Columbia County, NY. Married Eliza Myers, on Sept 14 1839 at Reformed Church Linlithgo, Columbia County, NY. 1860 Resident of Gallatin, Columbia Co., NY.
     The 1860 Federal Census of Gallatin, Columbia , NY shows this family with Jeremiah Kellerhouse 45, wife Eliza (Myers) Kellerhouse 42, children: Jane 17, Peter 12,
Albertine10, Hanna 8, Lester 6, Elizabeth 3, and Orville H. 1.12.
     Jeremiah Kellerhouse joined the Civil War effort in Livingston, Columbia, NY., by enlisting on 26 September 1862, enrolled as a Private, in Company I ,159th Infantry Regt of the New York Volunteers, Unit #1428, commanded by Captain Charles Baker. Jeremiah died of Typhoid fever, 18 Sept 1863, in the Regimental Hospital in Thibodeaux, Louisiana. Burial place undetermined.
     Jeremiah Kellerhouse served proudly for the Union Forces, State of New York, Unit 1428, with distinction. He was given a Distinguished Service award.
Eliza, wife of Jeremiah Kellerhouse, filed a petition to the court for a widows pension, while having four dependent children, Hanna, Lester, Elizabeth, and Orville. She was awarded $8.00 a month, beginning 18 Sept 1863.
