Valley View Cemetery CLASSIFICATION: Community ground. LOCATION: At Dover Plains. CONDITION: Well cared for. INSCRIPTIONS: 250 in number. Copied August 14 and 15, 1913, by J. W. Poucher, M. D., and John M. Cummings. REMARKS: Known as the Valley View Cemetery. A community burial ground was started at Dover Plains early in the history of the settlement. In 1871 the Valley View Cemetery Association was organized and acquired several acres of land adjoining the old burial ground. The latter was then put under the care of the new cemetery corporation, and the old and new grounds together forming one cemetery of about twenty acres. The following list gives the inscriptions in the old section of the cemetery.
