Wheras bu an act of Generall Assembly entiteled an act for better explaining and more Effectuall putting in execution an act of generall assembly made in the third year of the King William and Queen Mary- entiteled an act for defraying the publick and nessessary charg through out this Province and for maintaining the poor and preventing of Vaga-bonds made in the second year of Queen Anne. By vertue of the same the supervizors have caused the assessors to rate & assesse the free Holders inhabitants residents and sojorners for to defray the publick and nessessary charge Of the County of Dutchess to the year one thousand seven hundred & twenty four & five On the second day of February in the eleventh year of his Majestys Reaign and persuant Thereunto have annexed the tax rolles amounting for ye
Collonl. Leonard Lewis is to add out of ye money of last year which was Twenty Seven Shillings & 6 pence. So that there is to pay for County charges and for two Kings taxes hereafter named Collectors and Tresurors sallery added in all ninety pounds nineteen shillings and eight Pence; and the estemate for the whole County amounts but to ninety pounds eight Shillings and nine pence three farthings at eight pence farthings pr Pound; Collonll Leonard Lewis Tresurer for Dutchess County is to add to the estemate of the County Charges teen shilling and eleven pence out of the twenty seven shillings and six pence that was over and above raised and left in his hands last year for the use of the County Then there will still remain in Coll. Leonard Lewis Tresurer hands sixteen shilling and Seven pence it is likewise ordred by the justices for the greater ease for the severall Collectors that the South and North Ward pay there estemates as per there tax rolls to Mr. Abraham De Pyster Junr Tresurer in New York the Collectors reserving in there hands nine pence in the pound for collecting the same and the remaining part to pay to Mr Abraham De Pyster Jun. Tresurer at or before the first day of May now next insuing In the year 1725 as pr two acts of generall assembly one for raiseing and levying the Quantity of five thiusands three hundred and fifty ounces of plate for the uses therein Mentioned and for striking and making Bills of credit for that value whereof Dutchess County is to pay Forty two ounces teen penny waight yearly and every year dureing the Said three years this is the second payment of said act; as allso upon that act for raising And levying the sum of six thousand six hundred and thrity pounds for the supplying The deficiences of his Majestys revenue & for the severall uses and purposes therein Mentioned and for making of bills of credit to be issued for that value whereof Dutchess County is to raise and collect the sume of forty one pounds five shilling yearly and every Dureing the said four years and over & above fifteen pence in the pound for collecter And tresurer sallery as per the act appears. This is the first payment upon this act; It was Passed in July 1724 in the tenth year of his Majestys reign and further that the collector Of the Middel Ward is to pay his estemate to Coll. Leonard Lewis Tresurer deducting nine Pence in the pound for his collecting the same and ye remaining part to be paid to Collonll Leonard Lewis Tresurer for County charges and that the South Ward collectors is to pay To Coll. Leonard Lewis one shilling and eight pence which will when Coll. Leonard Lewis Addes the aforsd teen shillings & eleven pence make exactly the sume of £ 29. 1. 10. Which the County charges comes too including the collectors and Tresurers sallery YOU Are hereby required and commanded to collect of and from all and every person such sume Or summs of money as you shall find every one charged within the annexed tax list or
Deducting nine pence per pound for collecting the aforementioned summ and the Remainder After the County treasurer to Mr. Abraham De Pyster jun. For Kings taxes upon the above mentioned two acts at or before the first day of May now next comeing at the acts specifey and if any person or persons deny refuse neglect or delay to pay unto you such sum or summes of mony as afore said then you are impowered to distraint and levy the sum on his or their goods and Chattels and to dispose of the destress so taken as The Law doth direct hereof fail not at your uttmost perill given under our hands & seals In Dutchess County at Pockeepsink this 20th day of February in the eleventh year of his Majestys reign George King of Great Brittin Ano 1724/5 Note that the County charges are to payd to Coll.
