| These are to certifie that we Johannis
Terbos & John Montross Commissioners of The Kings High Way; for the
South ward of Dutchess County appointed by act of Generall assembly ; we
have vewed the Kings High Way on December ye 29th day In the
year of our Lord God everlasting one thousands seven hundred and twenty
Nine. Wheras we Commissioners have layd out the Kings highway through
the high lands Beginning from John peeks creek or Kill at the Kings high
way of Westchester Co. From said Creek along the old road northerly of
the sprout unto a small run of water Then following said run of water
thirty or fourty rood then leveing the road northerly Near on a straight
cors unto the South end of a plane where the ould road turnes Down to
the westward unto the dwelling of Francis Drake – from said south end
of a plane following the old road northerly near a spring of foutine of
water then leveing The old road and turn to the east side of said creek
unto the Kings Bridge that lays Over the Fishkills near the house of
Jacob Titsoort.
To Mr Henry Vanderburgh: Clark of Dutchess County, Sir you are by vss Desired to record this in our book of records held for Dutchess County. A true copey Of the oridgenall recorded pr me and examined on the twentyeth day of January 1729/30 Commissioners for the South ward of Dutchess County Henry Vanderburgh: Clark These are to certifie that we Johannis Terbos & John Montross Commissioners of the Kings High Way for the South ward of Dutchess County appointed---Wheres we Commissioners have vewed and approue of the High Way that leads from The Bridge that lays over the Wappingers Kill along the Kings high road to the top Of the Hill where the road strikes out that leads towards Jacob Schoutens and so Along the eastward of Jacob Scoutens to the east of a Large ridge and so as the road Leads to and along by Hendrick Phillips house to theeast ward of the same to a certain Hill of ridge called Legelants bergh and so along the same to the South side of a poor Sandey Plain and so as the road goes to Madm Catherina Britts Mills. Commissioners for ye South Ward Likewise the road approved of and found convenient that leads from Johannes Terbos So as it now goes to the Kings Bridge over the Fishkill near the house of Jacob Titsoort and so from Jacobus Swartwout to the road of said Johannes Terbos’s The road that leads from said Johannes Terbos.
