Assessments 1728/9, Pt. VII

Wheras by an act of Generall Assembly entiteled an act for better explaining and more Effectual putting in execution an act of Generall Assembly made in the third year of King William & Queen Mary entituled an act for defrayieng the publick and nessessary Charge throughout this Province and for maintaining the poor and preventing of Vagabonds made in the second year of Queen Anne. By Vertue of the same the supervizors have caused the assessors to rate all the real and Personall estates of all and every the freeholders inhabitants and residents within the South ward of Dutchess County to raise and levy a tax for the annual contingent Publik and necessary charge of our respective County and further that Dutchess County Pay the sum of six pounds in an act of generall assembly for raising and levying the Sum of two hundred pounds for repairing the barrack in his Majestys Fort George in The city of New York and be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid that in the City And County of Albany & in all the other Counties within this Collony their and each of Their respective quotas aforesaid shall be raised and levyed by the supervizors in the Same manner and at the same time as they raise and levy the tax for their annual Contingent publik and necessary charge of their respective Countys and the same is to Be collected and gathered therewith and by the respective Collectors paid to the County Treasurer each of which County Treasurer are out of the first mony which shall so come Into his hands as aforesd pay their respective quotas unto the treasurer of this Colony on Or before the first day of April next ensuing retaining out of the same for his trouble Herein six pence on every pound and allow to the Collectors after the rate of nine pence On every pound; and pursuant thereunto have annexed a list & tax roll this fourth day of January in the second year of our reign Annoq Domini one thousand seven hundred and Twenty eight & nine and are to pay after the rate of three Pence pr pound
