This indenture made the second day of June in the fourth year of his Majestys Reign Annoqe Domini one thousand seven hundred and thirty one between James Jackson Apprentice to Doctor James Ogiluie of the County of Albany gentelman these are Therefore to certefey for good and substantil reasons and by these presents doth out Of my own choyce volentarely and of my one free will and accord bind my self Apprentice to James Ogiluie from the tenth day of August now next till the full term Of six years be completed and ended to sarve from said date hereof and farther from The tenth day of August next untill the term of six be compleateated and ended Either to sarve him the said James Ogiluie or his heairs and assignes during all which Time I James Jackson as a faithfull apprentice his said Master of assignes will and Faithfully shall serve honestly; his secrets keep his commandments lawfull and honest Every where willingl shall do; he shall do no hurt nor damage to his said Master or Mistress nor consent to be done of others; but to his power shall let the same of forthwith give notice to his said Master or Mistress thereof; He shall not waste the goods Of the said Master nor lend them as any person without his consent; He shall not frequent taverns Inns or Ale houses ( except it be about he said Master business there to be done; He shall not during the said term play at cards, dice or other unlawfull games he shall Not either by day or night absent him self from his said Masters service but in all things (as a good and faithfull servant) shall demean himself towards his said Master and all his Famely; and to his assignes, and the said James Ogiluie or his assignes shall oblidge them selves to his said appentice shall during the term aforesaid sufficient wholesome and competent Meat drink lodging washing apparel and all other necessaries meet; with due and reasonable chastisement if he raly doth deserve it; and in the end of the said Term of six years and three monthes from the date hereof the said Master James Ogilvie Or his assignes shall find and provide for and deliver unto his said apprentice double Apparel that is to say apparel meet for him to have and wear as well in the Lord’s days As on the working days both of Linnen Wollen Hose Shoes and all; other necessaries Meet for such an apprentice to have and wear in wittness whereof the parties above Said to these presentt indentures their hands and seals interchangeably have set; the Day and year first above written.

Memorandum that on the day and year within writen personally came & appeared before Us Johannes Van Kleeck Esqr one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace and one of the Quorum and Bernardus Swartwout Esqr. Justice of the Peace for said County the within Named James Jackson and acknowledged the within indenture to be his voluntary act And deed and that he executed the same to the uses therein mentioned and Doctr James Ogilvie likewise and having perused and examined the said indenture and finding no Razures or interlineations therein do approve & allow the same to be recorded in our County records.

Received from John Brinckerhoof Collector of the South ward of Dutchess County The sume of sixteen shillings & elleaven pence tax and for my allowance five pence Which being on that act to defray the charge of victualling his Majesties troops Posted at Oswego and for other uses therein mentioned.

We underwriten Justices of the peace of Dutchess County on the eighteenth day of May in the fourth year of our Majestys Reign in the Court House at Pocghkeepsink Upon the reasonable request of Mr. Dirick De Duytser and Mr Jacob Van Kampen & others of the nessessety of having a Survayor of the Common Way or Road leading from a place called Dover to come down to the Market of Common Landing at Pocghkeepsink to forecome all disputs and debates which have formerly been we doe Order; that the Nighbourhood of Wasayick called Dover shall have the privilige; of Chuseing a Survayor for to repair the sd road and to have the same power to command And appoint all the inhabitantes of the said Nighbourhood; to work upon the said Road as all other Survayors have in all other places in our County of Dutchess and that

They shall affter this first election which is to be held at the house of Capt. Richard Sackett; now in May on the twenty fifth day of said month being Tuesday; and afterwards yearly & every year at the same place to chuse a Survayor for the same purpose on the first Tuesday in April and for this Nighbourhoods ease and conveniancy the Said Survayor shall be intitled to the same power strength and authority to distrain Upon the persons neglecteing to come & work being duly warned; upon the goods & Chattels & dispose of the distress according to law the said Survayor aplying him Self to Justice; for a warrant for the same ass wittness our hands.

Johannas Van kleck & Jacobus Swartwout presents of ye Court This paper to be left in Captn. Sacketts custody and to be shewn to the people at the Day of election yearly and every year.

This present day in Court upon the request of Mr. John Sackett he desired the Record of this order and we the subcribers; order the Clark Henry Vanderburgh Clark & Recorder October the 28th Ano 1731
