ST. VALENTINE'S CHURCH (POLISH)
BUFFALO, NEW YORK
Polish residents began to settle in the old first ward previous to 1920,
and in this year they were sufficiently numerous to request a parish of
their own. The Bishop sent the Reverend Ladislaus Brejski to organize
the new parish which he named St. Valentine's. The first Mass was
said August 15, 1920, on the site of the new church at Elk and Alabama
Streets. A fine brick building serves as church and school.
Father Brejski left in November, 1925, and the Rev. Stephen Szczepanski
came as pastor.
