Seeking information on August EGGERT and/or John EGGERT. August emigrated from Mecklenburg-Schwerin Nov. 1866 at approximately 12 years of age (b1855), without his parents (John and Elizabeth PATE EGGERT). By 1878 he is in Medaryville, IN, marrying at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Strong possibility during interim that he was with relatives and working in Eggertsville, NY, because we have letters written by him from Medaryville to "Cousin John" EGGERT in Eggertsville. Have just determined he was not anywhere in Indiana in 1870 Census; have not had chance yet to check NY. Your help in finding August (b1855) or kin would be appreciated.

My 2nd gr grandfather, Florenz (Florence) EHRMAN married Magdalena FISHER in St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Buffalo, Oct. 1835. He became a citizen in Oct. 1840, saying he was a native of "France". Family tradition says the family came to Erie Co. NY from Alsace Lorraine. Can find no record of their emigration to this country. He is shown on 1850 Erie Co. NY census; by 1855 or so, he was in Milwaukee, WI. In the civil war in an Illinois Regiment. Discharge paper gave his birthplace as "Bergamott, France". His enlistment papers say he was born "Palwert, Berryamott France". Can anyone tell me where this is? I've been unable to find a French Department by the name of either "Bergamott" or "Berryamott". Would also like to know anything about Florence/Florenz Ehrman's son, Joseph L. EHRMAN, who was 4 years old on 1850 Erie Co. NY. Will exchange information with anyone interested.
