ROLLER posted by John Brothers on Tuesday, January 6, 1998

Back again....can anyone solve the following for me: my records from Forest Lawn give the basic layout of the ROLLER plot there...but I can't figure out for sure the origins of it. A William ROLLER purchased it in June of 1883, shortly after another William ROLLER died the past February. A Jacob + Mary ROLLER had died in '74 - less that two weeks apart - and were reinterred in the newly- acquired ROLLER plot. Theory: the 'plot-owner' William was the nephew of the one who died in '83, while Jacob + Mary were his parents. Can anyone confirm/deny? Was home in WNY for the holidays, but was scared off by the storm threat. .o/w, would have investigated Wills+Probate over on Franklin Street.

DAVISON, HAWLEY, HAWLEYS, MILLER, SPALDING, SPAULDING posted by Dawn Amos on Wednesday, January 7, 1998

Am searching for SPAULDING/HAWLEY information and ties in Erie Co. Esrom SPAULDING came to Erie Co. before 1850. From the information I have so far, I surmise (create a scenario) that his uncle, Roswell, and family were there before him. It appears that Esrom's father, David, followed him. They were all originally from around the Rensselaer Co. area. Esrom married Freelove SPAULDING. She died in 1861, and he remarried. His 2nd wife was Ann DAVISON. They had 8 children, 4 of whom survived to adulthood. One of them was my Great-grandfather Adelbert. Adelbert married Margaret HAWLEY, daughter of Alfred and Nancy Catherine MILLER. They moved to Erie Co. sometime after 1861. Margaret was the 8th of 10 children. My father was born in East Concord, and there are still lots of his cousins in the area. I'm interested in finding descendants of the SPAULDING line from David (esrom was the oldest of at least 9), and the HAWLEYS. I am planning a trip "home" to WNY this! summer, to attend the reunion of the descendants of Margaret and Adelbert, and would be really interested in meeting any more remote connections still in the area, or at least sharing information. Thanks.

CUMMINGS, CUMMINS, GREGORY posted by Barry C.K. Moravek on Monday, January 12, 1998

This one is driving me nuts! $50.00 reward to the first one providing a copy of the short genealogy on Stephen CUMMINGS as referred to in the following: Welcome Cemetery, cont. page 4, Ruth GREGORY, dau. of Hezekiah & Abigail GREGORY and wife of Stephen CUMMINGS died 17 July 1804 25 yrs. (Ruth CUMMINGS b. 25 July 1779 per -pg. 11 Stephen CUMMINGS and Descendants - Erie Co.(NY). So the genealogy, which I believe to be short appears to exist. The information came from a book found at the NYSHA about Cemetery Records of Otsego County, was compiled by Edith Gage, Alma Slawson, Charlotte Lewis and the Oneonta Branch Cumorah M ission, 1962-67. I believe the cemetery record for Welcome was probably done by the DAR in the 1930's. Please share this announcement with other researchers.
