Seeking anyone researching the ETTER (or ADER, ETER) name in Erie County, town of Eden, New York. Anthony ADER is listed in the 1850 and 1860 Erie County census with wife, Louisa (WEISE). They immigrated from Alsace in early 1840, their first child, Louise, was born in 1845 in Eden. There is a John ADER listed as living near them, possibly a brother. I am interested in finding where Anthony and Louisa are buried and would like to know who their parents were. Please email me if you are researching this surname. I will share what I have--declaration of intent to naturalize, daughter's line, etc.

Ernst WITT. (b 1854) Married one Mary W KRUEGER (b 1859) -- Both German-born. Not sure yet if they married in Germany and immigrated together - or if they met in NY and married in Buffalo. However, they resided in Buffalo and had four children there - all born in the 1880s - Edward, Emil, Clara and Nora WITT. Also note that Mary KRUEGER's two sisters and one brother also turn up in Buffalo. (Whilamena, Hannah and Fred) It's unclear to me if her parents (Christian friedrecik Carl KRUEGER (b 1824)and Sophia HILLMAN) immigrated too or stayed in Germany. I have been told that they all attended St Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. This would be the WITT family and the KRUEGER brother & 2 sisters. (the sisters married a ROHRING and a SCHUMAN) I have since learned that was actually called St Stephen's United Evangelical (German) and that it no longer exists. (as of the 1950s) Apparently the parish registers in old German script still exist - full of baptism, marriage and death entries - and theoretically went into the custody of a St Stephen's Bethlehem United Church of Christ on Wherle Drive in Amherst, NY. This opens up a whole new avenue to verify vital records!!! Here's my 3 questions: 1) Anyone know if any of these parish registers have been microfilmed or indexed? I've seen a listing of what "should" be in the registers by years, types of records, etc. Is this what they actually have? Did everything survive the move? If they "are" on film - was this a FHC thing - or would it be in Lutheran archives - or in an Erie County or NY Libary??? 2) If not microfilmed, I've looked on several websites and don't see any "local researchers" who specifically offer to search "old german script". Anyone have any leads? (I am physically located on the west coast) This would mean physically going to the church in Amherst and looking at records from 1870s through 1930s. As we come forward in time, this would mean looking for WITT and KRUEGER and by extention - given the marriages of the children and the marriages of siblings - for ROHRING, SCHUMAN, HILLMAN, HASTINGS, FIX, MILLER (sp?), EBERHARDT, & SIECK. 3) And finally, I have information about one of the WITT daughters - Nora. Born, baptised and married in Buffalo then moved to CT after that. However, who and where are the descendants her siblings: Edward WITT? Emil WITT? Clara WITT? They all remained in Erie County. I have some "sketchy" information for them - with some names - and little "proof". Thank you for your patience. This was long message! I'm happy to have "found" this site - and for that matter - doing any genealogy "online"!!
