            The following census data is a reproduction of an earlier transcription of the original census created by Richard Salisbury from LDS Film #0895239. Salisbury's transcription was published in the March 1995 (pp. 12-14) and the September 1995 (pp. 81-83) issues of the Genealogical Journal of Jefferson County, New York. Salisbury's transcription was reproduced from the journal for use on this website with the generous permission of the publisher, Pat James.

            The journal publication has this note: "Format for this census extraction includes the number of male and female members living in each household. The PG/# (Page and # on page) are entered to assist in finding the microfilmed page in the source but DO NOT APPEAR on the original census records."

            Although sorted alphabetically here, the original census was taken in the order in which the enumerator visited each home; this means that you may use data in the page/row column to search for likely neighbors of people that interest you. For example, searching for the values 02/07 and 02/09 show that John LAWTON and Richard STEPHENSON lived near to Roger ADAMS (02/08).

            IMPORTANT: All transcriptions are subject to errors introduced by the people who create them; this means that Salisbury's transcription may differ from the original in some details, and this online reproduction of Salisbury's transcription may contain additional variations or errors. When in doubt, always verify transcriptions against the original.
