MORE INDIAN TROUBLES
Toronto, Ont., Aug. 15.--Dispatches received from Fort Garry state that the Indians at Portage La Prairie refuse to receive their annuities as provided by treaty last year. They want better terms, and declare that if they are not granted they will stop the surveys. Another report says that Commissioner Simpson has received word from one of the Indian bands at Portage La Prairie which refused to receive their annuities, that they has repented their action. On of the bands, however, still holds back.

WATTERS-LENT--on the 16th inst., at Newark, N. J., by the Rev. Mr. hare, Augustus Watters of New York to Miss Susie, daughter of Orilla and Char. A. Lent, of Newark.
DOWNER--At San Francisco, California, Wednesday, the 14th, Abner J. Downer, for many years a residentof that city, but formerly of Brooklyn, N. Y.
SMITH--At Great Barrington, Mass., August 15, Alletta P. Smith, widow of the late Charles Smith.
TYLER--At Plainfield, N. J., on Thursday, august 15, Mason w. Tyler, Jr., infant son of Mason W. and Eliza M. Tyler.
WICKHAM--At Manchester , Vt., at the residence of her brother, Rev. Joseph D. Wickham, D.D., on Friday, August 16, Miss Abbie Wickham, in the 63rd year of her age, sister to Daniel H. Wickham of that city.
WINTERTON--At Green's Farms, Conn., on Wednesday, August 14, Mary, wife of William Winterton, formerly of New York City, in the 73rd year of her age.
