SLEGHT - DE VOLL - Among the Canandaiguans who attended the wedding of Miss Emily Isabel SLEGHT, daughter of Mrs. Mary Willys SLEGHT, formerly of this city, and Laurence Oscar DE VOLL, of Rochester, were Mrs. Lydia M. WILLYS, grandmother of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. James Castle SAY, uncle and aunt of the bride, Rev. and Mrs. E. J. KALLINS and children, Margaret and Edmund, Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. WILKINSON, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. PURDY, Mr. and Mrs. Ned C. GIBSON, Mrs. W. G. DODDS, Mrs. E. H. HAWKINS, Mrs. Edward A. FISH, Mrs. William N. BROOKS, Mrs. Frederick A. MC KECHNIE, Mrs. Bertha F. SMITH and Miss Mabel BLANCHARD. Guests from other places were Mr. and Mrs. John North WILLYS and Miss Virginia WILLYS of New York, Mrs. Charlotte VANDENBURGH and Miss Ora VANDENBURGH of Detroit, Mich., and Miss Catherine EMERY of Portsmouth, NH.
The wedding took place at the Spencer-Rigley Methodist church in Rochester on Saturday afternoon and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. Milton Butler PRATT, of Buffalo, assisted by the Rev. James Frederick BISGROVE of Rochester. The bride, who wore white gerorgette trimmed with venetian lace and pears and a tulle veil, in coronet shape, held in place with orange blossoms, carried a bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Her uncle, John North WILLYS gave her in marriage and she was attended by her cousin, Miss Virginia Clayton WILLYS as maid of honor and by Miss Cora FRANK and Miss Clara HUSTED, Miss Catherine EMERY and Miss Sara GORSLINE, as bridesmaids. Miss WILLYS wore blue chiffon with hat to match and cream roses. Miss FRANK and Miss HUSTED were in pink georgette over coral and trimmed with silver and Miss GORSLINE and Miss EMERY were gowned in coral georgette over blue, also silver trimmed. The groom's attendant was Mr. Raymond Dillingham DE VOLL and the ushers, Charles BURGESS of Newark, John North SLEGHT, James Edward LAYS and Donald Kenneth SMITH of Rochester. Following the ceremony a reception for members of the family and intimate friends was held at the D.A.R. Chapter house in Livingston Park. Upon their return from their wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. DE VOLL will reside on Colonial Road, Rochester.
+ Mrs. August MILLER of Peekskill, NY arrives tomorrow to spend a week with her sister, Mrs. Charles F. MILLIKEN, Gibson street.
+ Henry W. HAMLIN and John R. ADAMS, students at the Hotchkiss school, returned to their homes this week for summer vacation.
+ Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. CHESEBORO of East Boothbay, Maine, formerly of this city, has sailed for Europe, where they will spend the summer traveling.
+ James LEWIS of Union college, Schenectady, arrived last evening to be with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon LEWIS, Main street north, for the summer.
+ Frank HAMLIN and Nathan T. MILLIKEN, who have just completed their first year at Yale university, returned home the first of the week for the summer vacation.
+ Mrs. Henry W. HAMLIN, entertained at a family dinner parity, Monday evening for Mrs. Arthur HAMLIN and daughter, Sally, of Summit, NJ. Covers were for eleven.
+ Miss Eleanor JOHNSON, a student at Cornell university, arrives home today to spend the summer vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar B. JOHNSON, Gibson street.
+ Dr. & Mrs. Ralph V. BLAKE, Gibson street, have been entertaining their daughter, Mrs. F. Brewster WICKERSHAM and Mr. WICHERHAM of Harrisburg, Pa., for a week.
+ Miss Florence H. STEWART of Pine Manor school, Wellesley, Mass., is spending the summer with her mother, Mrs. May STEWART, at the Welch cottage, Lincoln Wood.
+ Mrs. George R. SPENCER and children, Richard and Mary Elizabeth, will arrive next week to spend the summer with Mrs. SPENCER'S mother, Mrs. M. O. EVANS, Bristol street.
+ Elmer E. DAVIS and his daughter, Miss Meda DAVIS, of Bristol street, and Miss Clara E. FELLOWS, superintendent of Memorial hospital are spending a few days at "Tune Inn", east lake shore.
+ Henry TREBERT, who was graduated last week from St. John's school, Ossining?, returned on Sunday to spend this summer with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. H. L. F. TREBERT at Main Top, west lake shore.
+ Miss Ruth FEARY, Howell street, and her sister, Mrs. Junius R. JUDSON of Rochester, are with other members of the Rochester Garden Club at the 3 day convention of the Garden Club of America in Detroit, Mich.
+ Mrs. May STEWART and Miss Florence STEWART, entertained Mrs. Mary STEWART, L.S. and C.W. STEWART, Mr. & Mrs. Harry STEWART of Elmira, Miss Ida GRAVES and Mr. & Mrs. John GRAHAM of Canandaigua, at the Welch cottage, Lincoln Wood, on Sunday.

MRS. MADELINE PIERCE
Mrs. Madeline Pierce, aged 76 years, wife of Daniel
W. Pierce, died at the home of her son, Roy C.
Pierce, in West Gibson Street, last evening following a lingering
illness. Deceased was born in Michigan November 17, 1848. She had
been a resident of Canandaigua 24 years.
She leaves three sons and two daughters, Perry R. Pierce,
Roy C. Pierce, with whom she made her home, William
C. Pierce, Miss Lena Pierce and Mrs. Lulu
Farnsworth, all of Canandaigua.
Funeral services will be held from the home Friday at 2:30,
Rev. Stephen S. Pratt of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment will
be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
